Only last about 3 months ! went to charge lighter it got extremely hot and hasn't worked since

The lighter was great for the first half of day i had it. It seemed to be working fine. Stuck it in my pocket and went to work. At lunch, I went outside for a smoke break and everything still worked fine, so I thought. I lit my cigarette and put it back into my pocket. A few mins later I felt something warm on my leg that quickly changed to extreme heat. I quickly pulled the lighter out from my pocket. It was really hot and smelt like melting plastic. I ran back outside and put it on the ground and it sounded like it was popping and started smoking. I didn't know what to do so I doused it with water. Be careful with this one!!
