I Am Pleasantly Surprised
I own several Brunton pocket transits and a Harbin DLQ-8.I really bought this one just to compare them. When this one arrived after 11 days from China the needle was stuck and would not rotate. After pushing the lift mechanism several times and gently tapping on the side it began to swing freely. It has not since become stuck again. It is made of a light weight plastic and seem durable enough, if it is treated with reasonable care. The mirror is probably not glass ,but is clear and the reflection shows no distortion. The bullseye and long level work well. The needle is dampened and settled in 2-4 seconds. I took several azimuth readings with it and compared to the Brunton and the Harbin the results were identical. The clinometer functioned smoothly and accurately .I am also pleased to report that the Brunton ball and socket head worked with this compass (on the Harbin DLQ-8 the slots were milled too deep). The case is made of some kind of nylon canvas, and doesn't give a lot of protection, but fits the compass well enough for carrying purposes. I am really pleased with its performance and actually think it is easier to use/read than the Harbin DLQ-8 that cost over 2 times as much(due to the clear mirror and the better levels).Hopefully it will hold up to field use, but for the price I wont be worried if I do break or loose it.

Easy to use and works like a charm
I had a military-issued version of this compass a long time ago but lost it. I needed to do some surveying on my property and was trying to locate some original survey points without carrying a transit up the hills I was working at the time. This compass and accurate tape got me close enough to the points to find the stakes. It has all the needed components to make such work possible.

Nice knockoff Brunton style compass/transit
Feels good in the hand. Not as expensive as a real Brunton.
