It works well and I use it whenever I'm done using my iron so it will be in good shape the next time I want to use it
This is a tin of dry powder (for those of you expecting something else) that you poke your hot iron into when you want to tin it. I can only assume that it is, in fact, lead free. I hope it is, anyways. There is a little self adhesive pad on the bottom that could come in handy, but I've elected not to use it. I have not had trouble getting the lid off, but you have to firmly grasp the bottom of the tin with one hand and the lid with the other and rotate while trying to keep both bottom half and lid parallel to each other as you twist. Easier done than said, actually. It works well and I use it whenever I'm done using my iron so it will be in good shape the next time I want to use it.

Good stuff, works as expected, wouldn't use my iron without it anymore.
Works exactly as expected, and left me with a very nice clean tip every time I used it. Cleaning with just water/sponge always left the tip a bit too cool, and the oxidization was starting to be a problem even with tinning the tip. After using this each time I used the iron, the problem resolved itself instantly. Love this, wouldn't use my iron without it now.

Buy this. You want it. Even if you don't know that you do.
Cleans the tip, re-tins with silver solder. It works well, and puts a mirror-shine on a solder tip. That's a pain to do with solder wire, and takes a few seconds with this stuff. It smokes like the end of the world (and the smoke stinks), but what can you do? The extra flux burns off any dross and leaves the tip ready for whatever comes your way.I'm pretty sure I couldn't live without it now. Buy some, and you won't be sorry, if you do silver lead-free solder.

Excellent tinner & a great value
First off .. if you've never used "tip tinner" before, do yourself a huge favor and get some .. it's fantastic for quickly removing the crud & oxidation from your soldering iron tip.Secondly, note the size of this particular product .. It's 1.5oz, which makes it 2 to 3 times the volume of the competitors tinner products (most are .8oz and some are less .. they are tiny). This is great value compared to others.Highly recommended.

Works great, as others have stated
Works great, as others have stated, be very gently removing the lid and when you replace it make sure you set it on straight. I don't push the lid down all the way and it's made it much easier to remove the next time.
