Good backpacking tent
So far so good! I nabbed this tent on a killer sale! Set up was a little tough by myself until I realized I was doing it wrong! If you follow the clear instructions, it is a lot smoother! It is lightweight! Very practical to add to my hiking pack and used on the trail! So far it’s been on one camp out and it worked well! There’s plenty of space for my sleeping bag and camping gear either in the tent or in the vestibule! Excited for more trips in the future!

Excellent headroom
I ordered the 4 person tent. The peak height is amazing - I am 5'9" and love being able to stand up straight in any part of the tent. I put it up by myself in about 5 minutes flat - there is color coding and it's an intuitive setup. I love the zipper design (you can open the window at the top for a little venting) and the two stand-up vents at either side. I love that it came with the footprint and high quality tent stakes included. It has 3 loops on the ceiling to hang a light (confused why others are saying there are no ceiling loops). I love that it has a nearly full rainfly. A Coleman twin cot, or even 2 cots along 2 sides of the tent, fit easily. I also tried it with a queen size cot, and that is not ideal. The cot fits with about 18 inches to walk on both sides, but if you are tall you will not be able to stand up straight anywhere in the tent. If you plan to use a queen mattress, I'd recommend getting a larger tent or one with a different ceiling design. Now for the less ideal things: The tent has serious chemical offgassing (a strong smell) so buy it and set it up in a covered outdoor location like a porch or carport for it to air out for several weeks before you try to sleep in it (the offgassing did eventually stop and the tent is fine now). I wish all 4 sides were dark grey - the yellow is pretty but it kind of glows in the dark with moonlight. If Coleman made a tent like this with their dark room technology that would be my ideal tent. The front vestibule is a little small, I would have preferred it to be a little bigger. The mesh pockets are triangle shaped at floor in the corners - I'd love some square mesh pockets halfway up the wall or even near the ceiling. I'd also have preferred a full rainfly for heavy rain - not sure why they made a triangle cutout in the fly on one side.

Great 3 Season tent
Good, but not as quick to set up as other Coleman tents. Just means it will withstand the weather better than the other Coleman tents. Great large openings, sturdy.

Fairly lightwight, packable, waterproof, good quality.
•Overall Impression: -Note that there are several size variations for how many people you want to fit in the tent and the tent capacity. -I'm reviewing the one I have the single, one person tent, so it's going to be heavier and larger if you get a tent that holds more people and has a higher person capacity. -For a single, one person, tent that's packable and a pop up style, it's fairly lightweight in the one person size at 4 pounds 12 oz packed weight. It does feel about like 5 pounds when you pick it up. Note that the multi-person tents will be heavier, so check the listing and pics for the weights for those larger tents. -It's excellent quality, as you'd expect from Coleman, and is packable, pop up style and waterproof. • Pros-what I liked and what worked well: -Several size variations available from single person (the one I have) to multiple people capacity. -Good value for the quality, style and size. -Good material that's sturdy and should hold up well. -Waterproof material and taped seams and tub like floor to keep water and moisture out. The single (one person) style is almost five pounds in weight (note the larger multi-person tents will be heavier). -Comes in a carrying bag that's easy to carry or attach to a backpack or pack. -Pop up style. -Aluminum tent posts. Tent posts and tie downs included. -Rated for wind up to 45 mph (when properly set up). -Mesh zip open and close inner window for air flow and a view. -Bright yellow color makes it visible and easy to see. Has a gray top and accent color. -Reflective tape accents to make it visible at night. -Small single person size (the measurements will vary on each tent capacity) for the one person tent at 87" long by 36" wide by 38" tall. It's a tent you won't be able to stand up in easily but can sit up in and crawl in and out of of. -Zip up door closure. -Has no unpleasant scent to it. • Cons-what I didn’t like and what didn’t work well: -No issues. • Tips & Thoughts: -The tents are larger and heavier by the person capacity. So check the size measurements and weight for the capacity you are looking for. -The single, one person capacity tent weighs packed about 5 pounds. So keep that weight in mind when packing or planning your travel or backpack load weight.

The Coleman PEAK1 tent is a huge tent. It is marketed for 6 people and it is very big in size. We won't be using it with 6 people but we definitely have plenty of room to store things in the tent when we go camping this summer and still have room for ourselves, a dog, and maybe a grandchild or two. It has been so cold and wet here the past few weeks that we have not been able to take this tent and set it up, and certainly have not slept in it. So today when we finally had a decent day we got this tent set up to have a look at it. The tent came with a ground tarp, I like this, much better than putting the tent directly onto the ground, its a good added protection for the tent. There are a few things with this tent that I really liked. Everything is color coded, its easy to see visually where each of the tent poles goes and what parts go where. The tent poles also do not need to slide completely through a tent sleeve like other tents we have owned, instead they have clips that clip directly onto the tent poles making the whole process easier and faster. The tent has a top cover, it was easy to install, and clips into place well. The door and windows can be opened and rolled up and clipped open to ensure good air flow when the top cover is on. The top cover also affords some privacy when camping in a park or place where other people might be. This tent also had air vents that have little poles that you can use to hold the vent out to allow air flow. I also was pleased with the size of the bag and that everything actually fit into the bag when we were done. The instructions for the tent was sewn into the carry bag in several different languages, so no need to wonder where your instructions are. Over all a good quality tent, plenty of room and some great features. Very easy to set up. Cannot wait to actually get to camp this summer.

This tent feels like a significant departure from the regular inexpensive camping gear that is usually sporting Coleman logo. A high quality, solid, roomy, wind and rain proof shelter, which, if taken care of will serve for many years. The tent has a freestanding construction, and can be set up without the stakes if desired or necessary. Of course to properly stretch the rain fly, some staking would be required. The poles don't have to be run through any sleeves, the body of the tent simply clips onto freestanding pole structure. An advantage of such setup is that the rain fly can be set up on the poles first, providing a measure or rain protection. After that is done, the main body of the tent can be set up and clipped onto the poles from under the rain fly, keeping everything mostly dry. The setup is not complicated and with experience with a similar Eureka tent I was able to have the tent standing in about 10 minutes. Two people could probably get it done in half the time. The tent offers a decent amount of space for three, or luxurious area for two people. With two inside, there is plenty of space for gear. With 3 adults, it's getting a bit tight and most of the gear would have to be in the vestibules (or in the car). It's a good tent for 2 parents with a young child, or two kids and a parent. The really cool feature of this tent is the "Star View Window". A section of the roof mesh inside the tent can be unzipped and opened. Then part of the rainfly can be accessed from the inside and also opened, forming a window. On a warm night that provides great ventilation while the tent's mesh still keeps all the bugs away. If the weather is rainy the rain fly window can be opened just a little bit forming a vent. The inside of the tent is in large portion made from a fine mesh. That really helps with the condensation and ventilation, although in the spring weather the tent is a bit colder than I expected. Not sure if it's because of the mesh coverage, but there aren't many storage pockets inside. Definitely an area for improvement and something that I found rather disappointing. we camp with our kids and all the various gear pockets are great for keeping the tents organized. So far we only encountered mild shower one night and obviously the tent stayed dry. I have no doubt that the tent will survive a much more powerful rainstorm as well. Make sure to have it properly set up, with the rain fly stretched and tied off in windy conditions. The fly offers a full coverage with the exception of a triangle on one of the sides. It appears that in order to accentuate the "Peak1" design, Coleman removed a section of the fly and instead brought up the floor material up onto the wall. I don't like this choice and I wish the fly went all the way to the ground. The floor material appears to have the same waterhead rating as the rain fly - 2000mm, which is less than what my Eureka tents offer, but unless set up in a spot that becomes a big puddle of water then I don't expect it to become an issue. The tent comes in a roll-top style bag. The bag is spacious enough for the tent and when folded we didn't have any problems fitting everything back inside. Coleman included a ground sheet in the package, which is great for prolonging the life of the floor. The included stakes are very nice, lightweight yet sturdy, and a good improvement over the typical aluminum type that spontaneously bends at the first sight of rocky soil. The question is - is this a good 3 person backpacking tent? In my opinion - not really. It's too heavy and too bulky. Can it be used as a backpacking tent? Certainly, but I think it really shines if you want a versatile do-it-all type of a tent for car camping or perhaps canoe camping with an occasional backpacking trip once in a while. If your main pleasure is destroying the soles of your shoes on miles upon miles of trails, then you'll want something significantly lighter. This is an expensive piece of gear and I think that while Coleman made some really nice choices designing this tent, they also made some mistakes that at this price sting quite a bit. For me the biggest faults are the strange triangular cutout in the rain fly and the limited number of pockets /gear storage inside. Overall I fully recommend this tent, but try to get it when it's on sale.

The Coleman PEAK1 4 person tent is adequately sized, but like any 4 person tent doesn't have tons of room. Its adequate for a couple of adults, a couple of kids and some camping gear. But there is sleeping space for 4 sleeping bags, so there is that. It has been super cold and wet here lately so we couldn't set up or test out this tent until today. Today we took some time to get it set up and ensure everything was good with the tent. Its still too cold to tent over night for us. The tent came with a ground tarp which is great to protect your tent from being laid directly onto the ground. This tent has the instructions sewn into the carry/storage bag in several different languages, so you can ensure your instructions do not get lost and that you can easily see visually how to set the tent up and take it down. I really like that the parts are color coded, so you can see which poles go with which parts of the tent. The tent poles also clip into place instead of having to slide completely through pole sleeves on the tent, this is convenient and definitely cuts time down on tent set up and makes it much easier to do. This tent can be used screened without the cover, but the cover is great to ensure privacy or cover from rain or weather. I like that it has vents with little poles to hold them open as well as window and door that can be rolled up to ensure good air flow while still keeping the flies out. I was pleased that all of the parts including the tent could easily be put back into the carry bag for storage. Over all this is a good quality tent and we will all be going camping this summer as a family with a few tents, so this one will get some use. Great features, and very easy to set up.

I used this once this season at a camping site and it was a huge step up from our previous sub-$200 2-person tent. This boasts a lot of hard weather faring features which I likely won’t see the advantage of as I don’t camp year round or in real backcountry type locations. PROS + Lightweight for backpacking (10-12lbs) – aluminum poles + Waterproof fabric rated to withstand rain storms with tapes seams and “tub-like” floor + 2 roof vents for air flow and ventilation on hot summer nights + Rated to withstand 45mph winds + Has a 5-year warranty + Feels spacious and comfy for 2-3 people. 4 is doable if people pack reasonably CONS - Pricey!

I had to cut my fishing trip short. It had a ton of room for me and my gear. Overall the tent is easily set up and the rainfly seemed to be of good quality and did not leak during an all night rain. The vestibule could be a bit larger for storage. However, when I woke in the morning I found the floor leaked on that first night of rain. Luckily it was under my air mattress and a waterproof pack. Thankfully nothing vital got wet. Also I wish the rainfly in the back went down all the way as the sides do. Also having a bit more material on the front door, higher up instead of so much screen would be nice. Too much ventilation for a cool to cold weather tent. It was a little difficult to keep the tent warm when it was windy and raining, even with my heater going. Also disappointed that’s it’s now too late to return it and get my money back. My dad had a Coleman tent for years before it finally wore out and needed to be replaced. Mine only lasted one night. I’m probably never going to buy another Coleman tent. The quality is not what it used to be. I do not recommend unless you know it’s not going to rain.
