Performs as advertised
We are very pleased with this purchase. Product performs as advertised. We use it primarily in our vehicle and I was concerned that the temp would need to be reset any time the car was turned off. While the cooler does not run when auto is off, it does not need to be reset when the car is restarted. After reading some reviews regarding the temperature validity, we purchased 2 independent thermometers....one for each compartment. The cooler and freezer maintained temp to within 2 degrees of where it was set. When using on shopping trips it came down to temp quickly. Cooler was ready to go by the time I got to the store....about 40 minutes. While my husband could lift the cooler into and out of the car fully loaded, I would not be able to. Based on what I have loaded in it, I may need to unpack the cooler, then remove from my car and repack. While it is not a lightweight cooler, it is no problrm for me to lift empty into my vehicle and then load up. The baskets are nice when cooler is used stand alone. They are not of use to us when in the auto as when we try to remove them, the basket exceeds the roof height so they cannot be removed or installed once the cooler has beed loaded in our vehicle (Acura MDX). We chose to keep the baskets in the cooler anyway as we felt they may help with the flow of cold air around the product inside. We needed to flip the hinge side of the doors to suite our vehicle, which was very easy to do. The app works well and provides peace of mind when traveling long distances (when cooler is packed in a loaded vehicle and you are unable to check on the products inside). The wheels and handle performed well with cooler loaded to capacity but we need to figure out a way to stabilize when in the back of an unpacked vehicle....as cooler will roll/slide....a mnor issue easily solved with the right wheel chock.......I'm sure we'll figure it out. Even though this was more than I had planned to spend....we love it and feel we made the right choice for our situation. I don't typically write reviews but at this price point I hope it helps others with some of the same questions we had.

Alpicool TAW45 Portable Freezer
Under Temperature Setting, The user manual states "Under the running state, <instructions to turn the unit or either side ON/OFF>. When both left and right compartments are set in running state, <instructions to raise (+) and lower (-) the temperature> and press <GEAR symbol> to switch left/right compartment. The setting..."The function to manually switch between compartments using the display panel does not work. However, utilizing the cell phone app (android version) I am able to individually set the temperatures on both compartments. So, between the cell phone app and the display panel it appears I can access all the functions. It appears the control board is defective.8/15/2024 While trying to make a video of the problem, the control panel started working correctly and I've been unable to duplicate the problem since then. Problem gone. Very happy with the product.

Good product, but doesn't stay cold
I purchased this cooler before a three week road trip. While in the car or in the hotel room, it worked great. I really liked the dual lids and the temperature display. However, if the car was turned off, the cooler turned off and warmed up rather quickly. For example, the freezer warmed up 7 degrees (+4 to +11) in about 7 minutes while wheeling it from the car into the hotel room. The refrigerator warmed up 3 degrees (39 to 42) in that same time span. If we were changing hotels and hiking during the day, we needed to put freezer packs into the refrigerator section to keep it cold over the 4 hours of the hike.In all situations, I used the cover, which I purchased with the cooler, and the internal temperature in the car averaged about 80 degrees. The external temperature averaged about 75 degrees while moving the cooler to the hotel room.I would recommend this product, but don't expect it to keep drinks cold over several hours in your car while shut off without some additional cooling packs.

Great for long car trips
We tried this rather than an ice chest on our last couple of long trips. It was great having cold drinks, saving our restaurant leftovers and having our admittedly strange breakfast foods with us. When we stopped for the night we wheeled it in and plugged it in rather than having to empty the ice chest into the hotel fridge and put the ice packs in the freezer section then reload it in the morning. It's also much nicer when visiting relatives than trying to transfer everything into their already full fridge & trying to remember which is ours and which is theirs when we leave. It is a bit larger and heavier, that's why we paid extra for the one with the wheels and pull-out handle. There is a large fridge and a smaller space that can be fridge or freezer. The temps are controlled separately. There are few buttons. The controls are context driven and not intuitive, keep the instructions handy if you want to adjust anything. The temp will fluctuate, especially when driving and stopping for meals. It has always been between 32F and 50F which is good enough for us. If you want it to be plus or minus 2 degrees you will be disappointed. We don't have the optional battery. I can only find it sold directly from Apicool for 250, currently on sale for 200 which seems like a lot for an average 4 hours runtime. Of course, they sell this same fridge direct for more than one and a half times what Amazon charges. Maybe later when Amazon carries them we'll consider one. Also, don't lose your DC cord. They list the AC adapter on their spare parts page but not the DC cord.
