Behringer S16 16-Channel Digital Snake Black

This was the Midas brand, but works with my behringer X32.

This has changed the way we do music! Our church band installed this unit about a month ago, and it has been amazing! So easy to set up, and tailor to the exact needs of our band. It was so easy to set up using the Behringer X32 board, and only one Cat5e cable to run to the front of the church. we just might buy another one!

This unit works perfectly! The few ms of latency it has is completely negligible. Convenience at it's finest. This unit would really shine for a touring crew or mobile church that has to setup and tear down every show. In our case it simply allows us to get past the limitation of only 24/8 channels in the existing snake. I made a cable out of some bulk utp cat5e and normal rj45 ends (not the ethercon ones). It is about 150 feet snaked through a conduit in our church. Just as a point of reference in case you were worrying about having to get the more expensive stp or ethercon-terminated cables.

Incredible technology. Replaced my old Whirlwind 32/8/150 with this and 150 ft Ethernet cable. The snake and case reduced the trailer weight by almost 200 lbs.

Product is as described, and offered a huge added benefit we had completely overlooked at our church... Having pre-amps on the stage almost completely took care of all our ground loop issues. There was a little bit of a learning curve to get it talking with the x32 but we were able to get it figured out watching some youtube videos of the s16 setup. Shipping was fast.

Inexpensive and reliable. I use them in installed audio applications because they have most everything you need for a fixed PA system including an equalizer, gate and compressor on each channel. Setup is relatively easy with an iPad, but I would not recommend trying mix real time live audio since the built in WiFi is very weak, and the operating system does not handle link losses very well. These small systems are not like the X32 Rack system, which I am very comfortable doing live mixing at an event. But for fixed installation audio these have the right features, good reliability, and the right price.

I love this. I also got the X32 from Behringer and they connect with a single CAT5 cable. I eventually got another one of these S16s so I now have a portable rack with a few Wireless Mics as well as the one in my main rack with the other mics and amps.
