I regularly use purple shampoos and conditioners to keep the brassy (brown-yellow) tones out of my hair. I am a 50-something with natural (no coloring or processing), curly, thick hair that is dark (brown-black) with over 50% gray-silver running through it. Purple shampoo keeps the silvers bright and free from yellowing. IGK BLONDE POP Purple Toning Shampoo is probably the 10th purple shampoo I've tried and it was good for brightening, but it dried my hair out, which has been a problem with other purple shampoos I've used. The color of the shampoo is a glossy deep purple, with a slightly thin consistency. It takes very little to get a good lather, and I left it on my hair for 3-5 minutes to let it do its work, versus just sudsing and rinsing. This is a quality purple shampoo that does its job toning to take out brassy-yellow and brown tones. It's good for blonde and silver hair, but it may be drying to some hair types. I recommend it, but make sure you're following it with a quality conditioner to combat its drying effects.

Initially, the IGK blonde pop purple toning shampoo has performed better than many purple toning shampoos that I have used. I have long hair that goes to the middle of my back that is healthy. I prefer shampoos that lather well so as to ease distribution and over-scrubbing. This shampoo lathers extremely well and has a silkiness that feels healthy and replenishing. The scent is light and refreshing. My hair felt clean, replenished, and surprisingly soft and silky after using. I followed up with a replenishing conditioner that did not have purple tones. This worked well and I will continue to use it. I do think it is worth considering. It did not dry my hair. I will update with further time and use if needed.

I used the IGK toning shampoo and conditioner together. haven’t used this on my natural 4c hair so I can’t speak on that. But I have used it on my bleached bundles and wigs and it definitely toned down that brassy color. The shampoo and conditioner are a very deep dark purple. The bottles are small but a little goes a long way. The shampoo produces a great lather and both products rinse out well. Neither of the products left the hair feeling dry. This is the first time I’ve had a purple conditioner to use with the shampoo, I’m not sure what difference it makes because I used both products together. But overall this is a great product and it got the job done.

While this is made for blondes, I'm a brunette with highlights that can get pretty brassy thanks to heat styling and like to use a toning shampoo/conditioner now and then. What I love about IGK's is this: 1) Their products smell great (always). 2) They don't feel like you have product left in your hair like some color-depositing, blue/purple shampoo/conditioners can feel like, and 3) They work. I used the shampoo and conditioner together and they're each very good on their own, but together they're a formidable team. Highly recommended!!! ~Amy

I love this shampoo and I've tried many over the years. This one at first freaked me out - it's PURPLE..lol and looks like something that will dye your hair purple. It did not. It makes my blonde highlights just POP. 100%, hands-down my new shampoo! LOVE LOVE LOVE! PRO: Does what it says - I have blonde highlights in several shades and it especially makes the "white blonde" pieces pop - they absolutely SHINE and it's been almost 2 months since my highlights were done. So this works! Even had people asking if I got my hair done. No weird smells. Lathers well and definitely cleans. CONS: Nada Verdict: Highly recommend - one of my faves. I pride myself on accurate & honest reviews.

I tried the shampoo and conditioner at the same time, so I can't say if one is better than the other. First. open this before you get into the shower. It has those foil caps that are impossible to remove, especially with wet nails. I used scissors. They are very dark purple. I have tried some toning shampoos that were pretty light. They are also especially thick. Lathering was fine. I don't really care about that, but I know some people do. They don't say anything about keeping the shampoo on for any length of time, but recommend 3 minutes for the conditioner. I didn't time it, but it was about that amount of time before I rinsed. The toning is good. I can see that my yellowing areas look better. Softness-wise, this is just OK. I think this is a fine set, just nothing remarkable.
