We all know plain echinacea tastes bitter and unpleasant. I wasn't sure if it was possible to mask that very distinct taste, but this actually does an ok job. Not great, mind you, but not terrible. The orange is definitely there and it doesn't taste too artificial, but it doesn't completely mask the bitter herby echinacea taste. Rather, combined with the orange, it takes on a kind of peppery taste. Taking a drink of this (mixed in plain water) tastes like what I imagine an orange slice sprinkled with black pepper might taste. Depending on how big your kid is (number of drops are determined by weight, not age), they might have to take few enough drops they wouldn't even notice it in water. For bigger kids that need to take more (or if you're an adult taking a couple droppers full because you'd rather not deal with the taste of plain echinacea--I won't judge), mixing it in a bit of orange-flavored drink would probably mask it pretty well. But don't smell it. The orange scent smells very artificial and the musty herb smell of the echinacea comes through like a slap in the face.
