I really enjoyed this book, it is entertaining in the way it's organised with a series of idioms from the English language and selections of facts coming up every few pages. I also like the way each idiom is illustrated with quite unexpected ideas. The facts are completely random and that really keeps your interest going, because you always wonder what will be up next! I love to know where expressions and idioms come from and in this book I found quite a lot of stories about idioms that I didn't know. I found them fun to read.If you are a learner of English, reading this book is a really fun way to learn the language. It's much easier than a novel because you get to read short texts with a great variety of information. A good way to increase your vocabulary and develop your understanding of the language.

Funny and interesting

A really fun little book. Some very interesting facts regarding some well-known expressions (and some more obscure ones).The "did you know" section especially, containing some more random facts is very fun to read.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book has a great simple layout and offers great little insights, to aid well-known sayings. The illustrations are lovely to look at and complement each idiom, phrase or saying extremely well. All in all, a great little book, would really recommend it!

Not informative at all. No wonder it was free

With a few exceptions, this book tells you mostly what sayings mean, which we know! Very few give the actual origin of the saying. The few fact pages were more interesting. Had read this book within 20 of receiving it. Might be a good gift for my 10 year old grandson. Feel I've wasted my money.

Very basic book. Each explanation is only a few lines long and the illustrations look like they’re from a colouring book. Whilst overall the book is ok, I found it lacked the professional quality of other books.
