First time using oil based colored pencils
These are amazing and very well priced! I see why they were out of stock so often. I am so impressed with the color range, smoothness and vibrancy of these pencils. I have never used oil based pencils before. I have different sets of wax based Prismacolors- verithins (full), scholars (full) and premiers (12 botanical). I do love them but they need to be handled gently. I tend to use medium to heavy pressure and don't do much shading or blending (yet). So using a pencil that requires less sharpening or finesse is perfect for me and why I sought out oil based pencils as they have a reputation for being more firm. Of course the prismas aren't going anywhere, in fact the colors from this set will go well with them. Definitely some shades here I did not have. One thing I must mention, the packaging. It would be great if there was a small piece of foam/bubble wrap inside the top of the canister to prevent sliding. One pencil was received with a broken core about 1 inch down. Due to the firmness, I am still able to use it, eventually a small bit will be lost when it wears down to the broken spot. Other than that, the pencils are presharpened and I swatched the pencils straight from the package and had no breaks, just a bit of crumbing while applying medium pressure. Still wouldn't sharpen when I use them next for a coloring page. I used Neenah Exact Index cardstock for the swatch page, I do expect to see a difference on other paper types as with any medium. Overall, I am satisfied so far. I'm not sure if these are a good trial for pricier oil based pencils. But I am sure I do like these quite a bit.

Vibrant colors, questionable quality control
First, right off the bat: these colors are rich and thick, with decent layering and decent blending. They show up really well even on tan tone paper, even just swatching. I'm very surprised about that given their relative cheapness. But if you see my photo, you can see a few issues. There are pencils that say the same label as one color while being completely different colors. There are two different colors claiming to be Salmon (with the same numbers), and two colors claming to be Tawny (likewise with the same numbers). Also, there are two labeled Emerald that both appear to be emerald. No idea what color is missing in lieu of the duplicate Emerald. The pencils seem decently made but there appears to be issues in the factory re: labeling. Also, this is minor but the (cardboard) canister it came in lost the top of its lid in transit, letting a few pencils loose in the package. No major damage it seems, just a few broken tips of the pre-sharpened pencils. No way of me knowing what part of the process the canister malfunction happened.

Love them, but one issue!❤️
Here are the packaging and colors! First off, I want to say I love this color pigment!!! The oil pencils are smooth, pigmented, there are a lot of colors and range. The pages I have colored with them have come out great! I will admit though the only thing I don’t like about these are some of the oil pencils are smooth as hell, they glide like butter and the color gets on good. It’s a good smooth and thick swipe of product! BUT.. but some of the pencils are not as smooth as the others. Some are kind of gritty when applying to paper vs a smooth no effort shade, with that comes that the color doesn’t apply as good as other oil pencils in the package! Most of them are great but there are kinda 75/25 to me TO ME AT LEAST. If you see the color patches I colors so you can see how they look, some are a solid thick application of oil color and some fades off and doesn’t pick up and pack that good. Other than that one issue. This is a great set of colors to get! 48 good quality oil pencils for $19❤️

Where has this been my whole life?!
The first image is with these pencils, the second is Prismacolor (Verithins). I noticed a few things straight away: very little pressure is needed to lay down color; easily layers and blends; ability to lay down colors and remain vivid is amazing; no bloom. I’ve used Prismacolor and Derwent (both of which are wax based) and they are excellent products, high grade, etc. BUT they are expensive, quality can be poor, and blooming (wax sheen) is always a fear. These Oil based pencils are fantastic for letting me layer without the fear of the waxy bloom! They sharpen well and can get to a pretty fine point. I highly recommend these and hope the company does sell colors open stock so one can replenish only the colors one needs. Seriously, other brands are expensive and these are high quality without the price.

Good Value
The 48 oil based pencil set is a good value. I would buy these again. I will not compare these to any other brand-these are budget pencils. I use all brands. Standing alone the colors are bright, they feel smooth enough in my hand and they layer well. Only 2/48 had lead breakage issue (lilac and watermelon) and there's no lightfast info inside the tube in case anyone is wondering...budget pencils. The drawing done on some off brand sanded pastel paper recently purchased on Amazon. I probably should have done it on watercolor paper.

Good for some, not for others
If you are a prismacolor pencil user, these pencils probably aren’t for you. Yes, the lead is soft and waxy, not hard, the colors rich and vibrant, but the pigment is inconsistent, requiring multiple passes to completely color the page. This creates blooming or too much wax build up to highlight as much as you might want. Having said that, if you don’t want to spend $75 -$200 , these pencils are a pretty good quality and color selection for the price for those that enjoy just coloring. I also liked the case they came in for travel or just keeping them neat. Lastly, they sharpened quite easily with a cheap, battery-operated sharpener.

Honestly I’m really impressed at how nice these pencils are for the money. I’m doing an online foundations coloured pencil course and I can’t justify the expensive Luminance or Polychromos right now so I only have these to hand. They’ve taken well to every surface (pastelmat and drafting film) and every drawing I’ve thrown at them so far. They blend well and their vibrancy is lovely. They sharpen well and don’t break. These are a fantastic option without spending £500 on a few of the expensive sets. £40 for 120 great quality pencils with lovely colours, what’s not to like.

Calidad precio, excelente para empezar con material de buena calidad para usar el color , combinación buena entre ellos, también se puede mezclar con prismacolor, carandach o Faber Castell..... Depende de q papel se use mayor será el resultado del coloreado...😉
