Saves the cartridge filter
I have to say that these socks work like a charm. They do not impede flow through the skimmers and catch so much stuff, including dog hair, that it’s hard to imagine what the filtering system had to deal with before we started using these two seasons ago. They will always be in our pump house. I even reuse them a couple times after I give them a good hosing off. They are simple to fit over the skimmer basket and keep their shape as the elastic top keeps them in place. Very good product.

Very effective and easy to use
A neighbor recommended a sock for my skimmer basket and I'm hooked. Why didn't the pool folks tell me about these? They are about $5 for 2 at the pool store so I decided to order in bulk. I picked 2 brands (they all looked alike online) and these were the higher quality of the two I chose as I expected since they were a little more expensive. They fit very tightly on the basket and the mesh is very fine and catches all the small stuff. I think they would hold up to being rinsed and reused several times. They are easier to clean if you let them dry out first. I prefer to just thrown them out so I will probably buy the cheap ones again. I looked at some of the other reviews----I use a weight in my basket to hold the sock down. It's one of those Frog sanitizer things. As for scum and body oil, I put a scum ball in the top of the basket. These socks catch all the small stuff that used to get stuck in the holes in my basket and they keep my pump filter basket much cleaner.

Shockingly effective
I ordered these thinking they might catch some loose debris and take a tiny bit of pressure off my filter grids when opening the pool this year. I can not believe how effective these are at filtering out pollen, dirt, and debris! They far exceeded my expectations. I have a DE filter and about 5 years ago I replaced the grids myself with some cheaper ones I found online. They are good but I ordered grids that were half the size of the original ones, so unfortunately I have to clean them off several times when I open the pool each year, simply because they get clogged up really quickly. After the initial opening is complete, the grids are enough to handle the rest of the season, so typically I can keep the pool on recirculate, bypassing the filter all together and just rely on shocking, maintenance chlorine, and ph/alkalinity balance. Occasionally I'll use some clarifier if the water gets cloudy. So the strain on the pool grids is minimum once I am up and running. But this year I used these socks in addition to my regular pool opening routine. They decreased the amount of times I needed to clean the filter grids off. I have the clearest water I have ever had! It's crazy clear. And yet these little socks keep picking up pollen, sand, hair, bugs, etc. I'm down to cleaning them twice a day by removing them and rinsing off the gunk, then replacing it back on the skimmer basket. I honestly think they are amazing and a GREAT product. I'm wondering if eventually they'll stop picking up that yellow/brown stuff or if this is going to continue throughout the season. As others have mentioned, do not put your chlorine tablets in with the socks as they eat a hole in the sock within a few hours. I bought a floating dispenser and I actually like not having to empty out the chlorine tablets before dealing with the skimmer basket any way. Thanks for making this product!

Good value works well
Work well and a great way to get fine debris from getting clogged in the filter. The only slightly negative is that they will fall apart so it's single use once a week.

These Impresa socks are impressive
TL;DR version at the end. We bought our current home a few years ago. It came with an above ground Doughboy 18x34 oval pool. I knew nothing about pools but we loved the house. I discovered these socks after extensive research on pool care. I have to say, they are one of the most important tools I have. Right up there with shock. The first year I had the pool, we were constantly cleaning out the filter cartridge. I mean at least once a week. The pressure in the filter would get close to 20 and we'd know it was time to clean it out. Between draining the filter chamber to get the filter out, to hosing it down, to putting it back in and waiting for the chamber to fill back up, I was killing at least a half an hour a week just on filter care. That didn't include the time to brush the pool, skim it, test the water, balance it, shock it, etc. I tried filter cleaning chemicals and special tools to clean the filters. Still once a week. Pool care was taking me anywhere from 1-2 hours total every week. I'm not sure that is normal, but I wanted to find a way to reduce it. I should mention, that the previous owner was facing financial trouble so she couldn't afford the chemicals to maintain the pool. So she let it go. It was pretty bad when we got it. Dark green with at least an inch of rotting leaves at the bottom. Draining it wasn't an option because the liner would have shrunken and we wouldn't go back to normal. The guy who opened the pool gave me some tips on how to get it from green to clean. I also went to Leslie's pool supply and they helped me with getting it balanced. It took about a week to get all the leaves out. We had to take extreme measures. We hooked up the vacuum and opened up the filter chamber so all the sludge would be pumped out into the yard. Then we started balancing the water. Once all was done, I went from dark green to crystal clear. About a month or so later, I added in the socks, and it did collect a great deal. I was impressed. We we went from cleaning the filter once a week, to about two weeks. It occurred to me later that the filter that was in there was probably pretty messed up from cleaning out that messy water before we got the socks. Even without the leaves, there was still a lot of organic material it had to filter out. It probably created a lot more wear and tear on the fibers of the cartridge then normal use. So I replaced the cartridge. The pressure was significantly better, and we only needed to clean the filter every four weeks. The next year, we reused the filter, and almost got a full season out of it with these socks. The pool guy said the cartridge should last at least half the season if not the full season depending on use. It got light use that year, so we got almost a full season out of a filter that was used the prior year. This year, we got a new liner. At some point, the water became cloudy. I balanced the water and made sure the PH and alkalinity were perfect. When that didn't work, I shocked it. Still a no go. I tried a water clarifier too, and it didn't change anything. Then I remembered I forgot to put in the pool sock. 24 hours after putting in the pool sock, the water was crystal clear again. The package says to replace these every 3-4 weeks. I did that last year and it seems to work just fine. This year though, I figured I would try replacing them every week to see if it works better. Cleaning the sock out only takes a couple of minutes, but I figure over time the fibers break down, allowing more organic material to pass through. Since the 20 pack was cheap, I figured I would see if replacing them once a week would make a difference. The pool has been open since April and I've washed the filter twice. Once when we started up the pool (this cartridge was from last year), and once after that. So I am getting about 8 weeks between cleanings from a filter that I put in about a month before we closed the pool last year. That's 3.5 hours of work saved that I don't have to spend on pool care. We usually wait until it gets to 17 psi before we clean it. We probably could get another week or two between cleanings if we let it get to 20, but I didn't want to put to much strain on the pump. TL;DR: Sock filters out a lot of organic material reducing the amount of work the filter has to do. This has reduced the frequency of cleaning the filter from once a week to every four weeks when replacing the sock every 3-4 weeks. If I replace the sock every week, I can go for 8 weeks between cleanings. This saves me a significant amount of time in pool care, and I use less chemicals. BUY THESE THINGS! I know some people use pantyhose, but I think these are more the consistency of tights. They are thicker. I am not sure if tights would be a good substitute, but I don't care to find out. You would have to cut the tights to fit the skimmer, and who knows how easily they would hang on in the basket. These are cheap enough to just buy and not have to deal with the trouble.

Great Product!
These socks work great - an additional layer of protection against small particulates up to sticks/leaves. Easy to put on the basket. Really protects the pool filter and helps clarify the water.

Used in pool skimmer - they do a great job particularly on pollens and small bits. I found these to be even more durable (use for a week, just empty and or scrape pollen off) than similar item that I (used to) purchase from pool supply or big box store at about $12 for a 5 pack
