The bar spacing is 1.5 cm / 0.6'', the gap is not big enough for small-sized birds to escape.

Q: Are there bars on the top inside the cage to hang things from like a swing or toys?

The top of the cage has a tray that slides out. I leave that tray off my cage, my tweets seem to like it without it as it lets more light in. I have had no problems hanging a swing and toys from the top bars. My tweets are very happy with this enclosure.

The bar spacing is 3/4’’. And this cage is definitely a good cage for cockatiels, so far it does not have a nest door.
