Great price and everything anyone could need in a helping hand tool.
I looked all over Amazon and retail stores for one of these to help me solder (I make and modify "electronic cigarette," personal vaporizer box mods.I have no idea what the negative reviews are talking about. I paid as much for this as one of those flimsy "octopus" bendable 4 post alligator clip holders that I see around frys and other places. It is definitely a sufficiently heavy metal base to keep it from falling over. It arrived put together but loosened and took a few seconds to tighten into working order. It is extremely easy to move each part and is an average size for the helping hand tools. I found one at a retail store that was a little bigger with a little heavier base but also cost almost 100$ for a product that works virtually just as well. I don't use it everyday, but when I do, it's constantly being used and manipulated for hours at a time with no evidence of any problems. The elbow joints and little rotators have not had a single problem or become loosened, none of the threat stripped, nothing. The teeth line up on mine very well and the alligator clips are firm and open wide but aren't difficult to open nor mar a printed circuit board (Sometimes I also put electrical tape between them just to be sure though). I've had it a few weeks and it's worked amazingly well. I paid a little extra because I REALLY did NOT want the silly magnifying glass that some have and would gladly buy again and already have recommended this product to friends. Any mass produced item will have some that get through quality control but 90% of the time, when an item fails it seems to be a problem with the user not the product. I haven't had it long enough to know whether it will continue to last through the years like the very expensive one my father has had, but for 10$ I don't really care if it doesn't either. It's already lasted long enough and performed well enough as any "third hand" to have been well worth the money so I'll order another one any issues arise as it gets older.

Essential Tool for Any Soldering Project
The Pro’sKit 900-015 Helping Hands Soldering Aid is a fantastic tool that has made my soldering tasks so much easier! The adjustable arms hold components securely in place, freeing up my hands to focus on the soldering process. The weighted base ensures it stays stable during use, preventing any wobbling or tipping. The alligator clips are strong and hold even the smallest components without slipping. It’s also very easy to adjust the arms to any angle, allowing for precise and comfortable work. This tool has definitely improved my accuracy and efficiency! Pros: ✔️ Sturdy Base – The weighted base keeps the unit steady and prevents any wobbling while soldering. ✔️ Adjustable Arms – The arms are highly flexible, allowing me to position the components exactly where I need them. ✔️ Strong Alligator Clips – The clips hold components tightly and securely without damaging them. ✔️ Durable Construction – The build quality feels solid and built to last, even with frequent use. ✔️ Improves Soldering Accuracy – Having my hands free allows for more precise and controlled soldering. Cons: ⚠️ Base Could Be Heavier – While the base is sturdy, a slightly heavier base would improve stability even further for larger projects. ⚠️ Not Ideal for Large Projects – The arms are a bit small for very large components, but it works great for most tasks. Final Verdict: The Pro’sKit 900-015 Helping Hands Soldering Aid is an invaluable tool for anyone who does any soldering work. It holds components securely and allows for more precise and controlled soldering, making projects quicker and more efficient. I highly recommend it for hobbyists and professionals alike!

Works well for small soldering jobs; clamp jaws are very sharp.
The base is not very heavy so larger circuit boards can cause the unit to tip. You need to clamp the base to the workbench or vise for these cases. The clamp jaws are very sharp and can damage wire insulation if you are trying to solder a wire splice. Use some poster board strips in the jaws to protect the wires. This unit is a good value and none of the drawbacks can't be overcome with some forethought.

All that you need in a helping hand tool.
When I started looking for a tool to help me solder .014 mm wire, I was skeptical of all the cheap tools that were available for this purpose online. Many seemed very cheap and had too many attachments than I could possibly use at once, yet they are all there to get in your way or make it difficult to adjust the unit to actually see what you are doing. Many poor scores on most of them, complaints like showing up as a bag of cheap parts needing assembly, and too top heavy, imbalanced after assembly. I would not want this falling over during a delicate soldering job. I happened upon this Eclipse 900 unit, and it had one good review about its balance, and it was simple looking and had the attachments I needed 99% of the time: 2 clips. What else would you need? If you need magnification, I would highly recommend NOT getting a cheap mag glass attached to your helping-hand device, it gets more in the way that being useful. Instead get a good head magnification visor, like a B&L. There cheap and do a far better job. So I took a chance buying the Eclipse 900, not a big change since it's so inexpensive, and assumed it would show up disassembled, but much to my surprise, it was assembled out of the box, ready to use. I found it to be sufficient as far as quality; the base is heavy enough, the frame elements operate smoothly, and everything about it can be adjusted (except height), even the stiffness of the articulated joints. The clips are removable and appear standard sized, but for my purposes, I'm looking for a set of clips that are more delicate that I can use along with the originals; which is a nice feature to be able to do this. So I recommend this unit, for it's utilitarian design, price point and level of quality.

I use this to paint lures
I think this is great, it’s cheap and well put together. Couldn’t say if it was good for soldering but works phenomenal for holding lures. It’s perfect for all size lures.

Prior to buying this, many of my soldering exploits involved poor joins,, burnt fingers, and lots of swearing. Ironically, you could do with a helping hand putting this togethe - there aren't instructions, because it is pretty much instinctive, but it is a little awkward, Once assembled, this is a really good tool. The arms and clips are easily posed and hold your items firmly, making it very easy to work with them.
