The Art of Persian Cooking (Hippocrene Cookbook Library (Paperback))

My favorite part of this book is the pilafs! I've tried many of the recipes and they worked for me. I like that this book includes a variety of pilaf recipes and walks you through the basics of cooking rice using Persian techniques.There aren't any pictures in the book. There may be some line art illustrations, I can't remember. But if you like to see a picture of the dish you are preparing, this book may be a disappointment. Usually, I like pictures of meals, but the recipes in this book are so good that I like this book despite the lack of pictures. :)

Great recipes in here! I also like the drawings and ceremonial background info. I am looking forward to setting myself up with a rotisserie just for this. Not that fancy equipment is needed, actually but I am so excited it has me wanting to kinda be a hobby gourmet type. This is so fun!

I got this book for my sister since she's a great cook in general and wants to learn a few Persian dishes for her Persian friends.She's happy & satisfied with it :-)

I have a newer edition of this book and while it seems to have good info, it reads like no one edited it! It's driving me nuts with typos and misspellings all over the place. I don't understand how something like this can be published.

Im very disappointed with this publication, not at all what i was expecting. I love Persian food and used to eat at a local restaurant in the Gaslamp District, downtown San Diego. The dishes depicted are nothing like the wonderful meals served at my favorite restaurants, i was hoping to at least make a few dishes that i remember form my time in California. Guess ill have to keep searching for a better publication ?

Clear instructions, excellent recipes, brief histories on the dishes. Wonderful comprehensive cookbook.

A simple, easy, and real way to cook Persian food is laid out in this book. I highly recommend it for everyone.

This cookbook has very few practical recipes. I could probably cook a handful of dishes from this book.I wish I could get a refund.

If you want to learn Authentic Persian cooking, this is the only book you will need. It is very clearly written and very easy to follow. There are no pictures but we can find pics on the internet if you must see what the final product should like. The table of contents is clearly organized. Excellent Book. Highly recommend especially for the price. Great binding and high quality paper and fairly large print. Checks all my boxes. Thank you.

The book was in excellent condition and exactly what I was looking for : a classic. It is a first edition dating from 1961 which means no pictures, not even drawings, and recipes dating from the time that exotic ingredients were practically unavailable. MUCH better than all the fancy fashionable cookery books of recent years. I go for the basics and that's what I got with this book. Thanks a lot.
