APEC WATERSystems 3/8" Output Quicker Dispense Upgrade Kit for Under Sink Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System

The instructions included with this kit are not very accurate to the RO-90 system I have, you may have to read between the lines to set this device up or contact support.They also have a 3/8 line that runs up to the R/O faucet which threads onto the faucet with a 7/16" flared to 3/8" push connector but I was unable to remove the 1/4" line that was already installed in the RO-90 kit, Apec telephone support said to cut the 1/4" line coming out flush with the threads on the faucet and thread the new 7/16" to 3/8" faucet adapter on. To me it seems like a bad design to leave a cut off peice of 1/4" line inside the faucet when the whole kit is designed to improve flow. I guess if I really want to use this kit to improve flow I will have to purchase a new faucet that doesn't have the 1/4" line already installed.I contacted support after letting the tank fill up and verified there is no flow improvement, the agent I spoke with told me that they didn't think I was supposed to cut the line flush with the faucet as the previous agent told me to do. I am now waiting for a call back from Apec to see what they say about the installation troubles. As it stands now I have the 3/8 upgrade kit installed with no improved flow, I can not remove the 3/8" upgrade to return because the support agent told me to cut the 1/4" line flush at the faucet, so there is no way to go back to the 1/4" line.Before you purchase this item, take a good look at your R/O faucet and if there isn't a way to non-destructively remove the 1/4" line I would advise against purchasing this kit. I think Apec may have made revisions to the different items they sell, so these kits arent actually as universal as they state.

I have the APEC RO-90 which is now an APEC RO-HI with the addition of this kit. In addition to this high flow upgrade kit, I have also added the 14 gallon APEC TANK 14 to my setup. The last part that I plan to add is the permeate pump kit. But of course, you want to know about THIS, right? I would say to the other reviewers who said it doesn't increase the flow, your problem lies in inlet pressure, most likely.As I said, my system started as an RO-90. The cost of this kit was worth the money for me, as it has quite noticeably increased the flow from my refrigerator water dispenser as well as eliminated problems with my ice maker. If you add this kit and you still have flow issues, then you need to potentially add a booster pump, as your inlet pressure may be inadequate. Line pressure meters are readily available and cheap, as well as being simple to install.

Easy upgrade to increase flow from standard RO kit. This was a tube replacement and new final filter with bigger fittings than the standard 1/4 inch output kit. Now filling glasses is just like filling from the regular tap rather than waiting. Only minor difficulty was in also connecting the refrigeration line, I needed a 3/8 inch shutoff and a separate 3/8 inch Tee fitting and a 3/8 inch to 1/4 inch reducer, no one seems to have a combo like they do for the 1/4 Tee/shutoff.

I did not want to install the RO under the sink. I wanted to install it in the utility room in our basement. That wouldbe approximately 25 feet from the kitchen sink. I also wanted to use the filtered water for our Ice Maker in the utility room Refrigerator/Freezer. To maintain the necessary volume, I installed this 3/8" upgrade. It was easy to do and took only 15 additional minutes. Great addition to my home water system! Everything is working as required.

The product itself is great, it highly increases flow of the ro water. However, my kit was missing the filter cartridge and tee. Apec did get one shipped out to me pretty quickly so in that sense I was very pleased. But having to wait an extra week to install the add on was annoying.

Really wish the RO system just came with this unit! So now have the original filter and don’t know what to do with that... But this filter really does speed up the outflow from the RO system.

I was expecting a substantial increase in water flow rate, but I really don't see any change. Everything was hooked up fine, and it was an easy swap from the old 1/4" tubes, fittings, and filter, to the new 3/8". The end result is the same flow rate from my faucet. So, it wasn't worth it.

Not worth the money. Does not fill tank or dispense water any faster than before with all 1/4” line.

This really is a super good item!
