Q: Is adhesive permanent or can I remove it later? Want to put it on a laptop bottom, it's too light & slick. It's already ended up on the floor once.

Not "permanent" but lamp would require cleanup of some adhesive when rubber is removed.

Q: Can it be used on steps (stepvstool)?

I would think that it could, just clean what its being attached to with alcohol

Hi Drew, As a woodworker, I'd not put anything on a oil finish, first find our out what country it was made in, and what type of oil was used. An oil finish is kind of general. Hope this helps.

Exactly what I needed!!

This stuff worked really well. I cut it to size and installed it onto my weigh scale. This stuff is very sticky so make sure you put it down right or you may have trouble getting it back off without ruining it.
