UK Vodafone SIM Card for Europe with Fast 4G LTE Data,Unlimited Texts, and Direct Call Option to The USA

It makes being away from the UK a bit easier.

The description of this SIM card is misleading. It said the SIM can be used in Europe (including Turkey) after you top up a plan as the SIM does not come with any credits. I top up £10 for a PAYG basic plan of 7GB. But all the credits were gone with just a few mins usage of data at the Istanbul airport. I finally figured out that (at the official Vodafone UK website) the SIM will only work if you buy another EXTRA roaming plan after you top up a basic plan if you are using the SIM in Turkey. This is very misleading as the description had never mentioned about the EXTRA roaming plan. I now request a total refund of the SIM and the £10 top up cost which I was misled to pay.

The first thing to note is that this is not a special SIM designed specifically to be used outside of the UK. It is an ordinary SIM, like those available in any shop, and probably free if you go to a mobile phone shop and get a Vodafone pay-as-go SIM with credit. There is no credit on this SIM so you have to add it. If you already have a Vodafone SIM then you don't need this one for using abroad.I am on Lebara and their rates in Turkey are outrageous and not an option, so I bought this because Vodafone have packages covering Turkey. After I received the SIM and installed it, I created an account on the Vodafone website and downloaded the phone app. I bought the 15 day global roaming bundle for £25 and that gave me 4Gb data, 200 minutes calls and 200 texts, which I expected to be sufficient for my 6-day visit to Turkey. On arrival in Turkey, the phone connected to Vodafone TR and worked perfectly. I could keep track of my useage on the app, I had 4G connection for data, and was able to make and receive phone calls to the UK. I was able to hotspot the data connection for access on another phone.There are also cheap bundles for use in the UK if you decide to keep the SIM for UK use. (Not endorsing Vodafone per se, just stating facts).If you need a lot more data and calls than the 15 day global bundle provides then get a SIM locally. My kids just wanted a data connection so I got 30Gb data only Vodafone SIM card for £15 and they shared the connection via a wi-fi hotspot on one phone, allowing music and video streaming.
