Organizing from the Inside Out for Teenagers: The Foolproof System for Organizing Your Room, Your Time, and Your Life

NOT just a reprinting of her Mom's books
I’m writing this as a 50+-year-old, not a teenager. But for my money at least, this is NOT just a reprinting of Julie Morgenstern’s “Organizing from the Inside Out.” Julie’s daughter Jessi offers an independent, spirited and insightful young person’s fresh opinions about Julie’s techniques which hopefully make organizing relevant and accessible to teenagers. Jessi translates her mother’s techniques convincingly, and adds in a few of her own, to help her audience achieve accomplishments as diverse as having more time for a church youth group to playing more music. Julie and Jessi polled a wide range of young adults to define this book. I have tremendous respect for the results.Lauren Williams, Certified Professional Organizer(R), Owner, Casual Uncluttering LLC, Woodinville, WA USA

it's got amazing suggestions, so mom
I bought it for my grandson to help him get organized - his room, his schedule, his life. But as teenage boys go, he hasn't been organized to even open it. However, I read it, and I give him suggestions. So I think a teen who would read this would probably already be organized. A disorganized teen won't read it. But hey, it's got amazing suggestions, so mom, or grandmom, you read it, and then pass the suggestions on.

Buy it for your teen - and use it for yourself
I have two teenagers living in my house. Their rooms are impassable, and half of their waking hours seem to be spent trying to find things. Now that I've bought this book, highly recommended to me by a Former Teenage Mess Addict, I have a glimmer of hope that calm will descend where chaos once reigned. We're working on it together, and in the process I'm finding ways to make my own life flow more smoothly.Highest recommendation, so far. Tune in next month for an update!

Teens can organize themselves
After reading some of Morgenstern's books on organization for myself, I bought this book for my daughter. She was delighted with it and took it upon herself to redo her room. I think that she did a pretty good job. Her room has greatly improved and this book has given my daughter the confidence that she can keep her area and belongings neat.

Ok - but can't get my teen to read it...
This book is ok but for teens who are not already motivated to make changes, it will likely sit on the shelf. The approach is more complicated than what my teen needs at this point. There are a lot of quotes from other teens and exercises, such as focusing on why organization is helpful. My teen needs a much simpler starting point.

I bought this for my son but was surprised how much I could apply for myself
I bought this for my son but was surprised how much I could apply for myself. The ideas are presented with a focus on making things work for you, rather than making them look a certain way or on pleasing someone else. I like the repeating theme of using what already works in your life and expanding that to other areas.

Fantastic organisational guide for teenagers
I bought a couple of books about organisation and this was by far the best, albeit a little dated/Americanised. I was totally overwhelmed by sixth form but this book and its handy quizzes as you went through made it easy for me to identify what exactly was causing me issues and how I could work towards fixing them, not only in terms of organising my bedroom (which it broke down into problematic areas such as closet and memorabilia to make it seem like less of a Herculean task) but also my work and my time. I'm getting towards the end of my teenage years now but I'll be taking it to university with me to help there! I think this book would be suitable for anyone who is not yet an adult in the working world to be honest- from unruly 8 year olds to clueless 25 year old medicine students, everyone can take something away from reading this book.

Interesting ideas!
My daughter found this very helpful with loads of useful ideas for tidying her room and her life! She found it similar to the Sean Covey books and has been motivated, after reading this, to sort out her room. The layout of the book is very straight forward and you can either read it from start to finish or dip into it when you like.
