Best Bang for your buck
After using for 4 years the thing finally broke. The screw on clamp for the tip wore out so it won't hold a tip anymore. But after the use and abuse I put it through I'm surprised that it lasted this long. I've used more expensive irons over the 4 years and this one can compete pretty well with them. would recommend for those looking for a cheap option for soldering components.

Case has changed, iron has not
I'd bought one of these for myself a year or two ago and ordered a second one for my work bag. The new one has a slightly smaller case which makes it a bit harder to pack up. First one is as pictured, second one matches a narrower version in one of the customer pics. That's cosmetic tho and it's still a decent portable iron for light work.

OK for infrequent use
This soldering iron is fine for infrequent use. But anything more than that and you're going to be disappointed. The iron itself works just fine and comes up to temperature quickly. However, the tip doesn't last. After several uses, the surface pretty much erodes and instead of being a nice fine-point tip, it is no longer smooth, pointy or clean-able. I routinely clear and tin the tip of any soldering iron I'm working with, so the tip was taken care of. But even with that it didn't last.My go-to soldering iron is a workhorse Ungar that gets used for hours at a time. I bought this soldering iron for quick jobs but wound up going back to the Ungar for everything.

Good value for the price
Great to have all items you need in a storage case. Good value for price. Good for fixing items around the house and for hobbies.
