No smell and didn't collapse during close proximity painting and using harsh adhesive. So I guess that it works.

I got these along with a knock-off mask to see if I could replace my 3M unit with a cheaper one. Full disclosure, if it HADN'T worked, I was gonna use it for cos-play anyway. But the good news is, it seals up well, keeps the odorant out, and seems to be working against VOCs. YAY!Full disclosure, in a previous career, I did fitment testing to NIOSH specifications for painters, and had my old test kit sitting here to be able to see if the mask and carts worked. They do to what I could test them.Things I DO NOT know: Depth of Media - how long before they "gum up" and are they as good as 3M? We'll have to see when I get to painting later this summer.

The first time my husband used them he had a tremendous headache that lasted for days because I never imagined that the filters weren't going to protect him! For the price it definitely wasn't worth it as it doesn't work like it should.

Beware this is not refundable. This is terrible. The plastic straps are cheap and broke with a few hours of work. So I try a return on this item like it says at bottom of post that 100% satisfaction with full return.After this item broke I started a return on it to find that it is not returnable.Few days later, Amazon Help, helped me getting a refund. They do a refund but you do not return the item. You also do not use the return page. You have to use Amazon chat. Thanks for your help Amazon.
