Radio Control Phoenix (as stated on the Product Box) Flies like a real bird wirelessly, by flapping its wings. You control the wing speed, which allows you to fly higher or lower, and direction left/ right with the controller that gives you up to 100 feet distance. Light-weight (only weighing about 5-6 oz.), allowing for inexperienced fliers to crash without worrying about breaking in most cases. Small rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery in it (non-removable) and the controller takes 4 Double-A (AA) batteries. (Recommended that rechargeable AA Batteries are bought to alleviate the need to buy batteries more than once. (Go Green!)

Enjoyable.
We are happy with its performance so far. This was purchased for an 8-year old who has some experience with remote control toys. He understands it is a "big boy toy" and has to treat it very gently. He can fly it okay, but still has some difficulty. This is NOT an easy flier for kids like a truck or car would be. It takes some time and patience to get it flying well. My recommendation is to practice flying in open fields, because ours has already been on the roof, stuck headfirst into the antenna, and in a few trees. Yes, it does fly, and will end up pretty much anywhere you can think of. Like others said, wind can be a real issue. Flying this indoors would not be a good idea, as you need a lot of room to maneuver. Indoors might be okay after a lot of practice, but definitely not while learning. The body is made of styrofoam, the plug and switch are microscopic, and the antenna wire is as thin as a hair. It is very fragile yet it has held up well so far with our son's small bumps and practices so far. He is trying really hard to keep it safe. He is very proud when he can bring it in for a safe coasting landing. If he rammed it full speed into a wall, I am sure it would be scrap pretty quick.A good toy for careful, moderately patient kids who follow directions pretty well and have experience with remote controlled toys. If your kid is a Smashy McBash, you might want to look elsewhere.

Fun, but didn't last
Despite a lot of negative reviews saying this is hard to fly or not well made, I took a chance on it for the price because my daughter has been asking for a remote control bird or butterfly for a long time. She is 8 years old.I am very happy with the product. It worked great, she was able to fly it beautifully (outdoors- it is too difficult indoors), and enjoyed many hours of fun with this. We would take it down to the park and fly it in an open area and she was able to get it to do circles, dips, etc.I only give it 4 stars though because after 2 months, it did break. It wasn't a crash landing by any means, but it did fall a short distance into the ground and break. This toy is very fragile. But again, the price is a lot better than similar RC toys, so for the two months of enjoyment, it was well worth it.I purchased her another one for Christmas, and if she gets a few more months out of it, that is fine. Don't expect a high quality toy that will last for years and years. Do expect a fun toy that is not too hard to operate, but does require some patience and diligence on the part of the child.

WORKS AMAZING
I bought this for my Husband on Father's day. He is a big RC guy, and he loves this. He first used it at night, since it has lights and sound and was able to control it just by following the lights. The next day he would use it, charge it, use it. He was completely entertained. The motion of the wings is impressive, the sound is optional, so if it annoys you, you can turn it off. Personally, I thought the sound was a nice touch. THe lights are also optional. Nice buy!

My granddaughter likes it
This was a present for my 9-year-old granddaughter. I wasn't sure she would be able to control it, but it turns out she learned quickly. The bird flies slowly and allows you to recover from mistakes. It is also pretty durable -- it wasn't damaged from any of it's crash landings. This is partly a result of it's slow flight, but also from it's ability to glide when the power is off. The one shortcoming I would mention is that the charging arrangement, in which you stick the bird's belly on a small protrusion on the remote control, is difficult to master because the port in the bird (which also contains the on-off switch) doesn't "click" or snap firmly into the charger, but just rests on it.

Broken from the get-go
I got this for someone as a gift for the Spring, but luckily I decided to test it first.Product wouldn't charge at all out of the box. I read directions and tried everything, but it was no good. I have a similar item (old AirHogs AeroSoar) which uses the same charging system (same charge port too), so I'm not new to this. I also tried a different set of new batteries in order to rule out the rare possibility of a bad new cell, but no go. The only way this is moving is when I'm shipping it back.Too bad...looks good - if only it would work good.

Great and fairly safe for those who know nothing about ...
I got this for my younger son since he was really taken by my older son's bird. However, they aren't really well made. The new one has stopped turning right - rudder still works, and the wings flap - no noticeable deflection or damage to the bird itself... Great and fairly safe for those who know nothing about R/C, and maybe a good gateway toy to model aircraft.
