Elertus Alerts ELRT10-2 Wireless Remote Wine Monitoring System Sends Alerts for Temperature and Humidity

I love the idea of being able to check the temp & humidity of my wine cellar remotely with my iPhone and on the web when I'm not home. I'm not as concerned about the motion and door open/close functions that both work as advertised. The light sensor needs a fairly bright light to be activated and does not work with the LED track lighting in my cellar unless I aim a head directly at the sensor. This configuration does not work as the sensor is near the door and can only be positioned so far away as it's hard wired to the magnetic contacts. I'll haver to decide which function, door open/close or light on/off is more important and adjust the installation accordingly. Compared to the other 2 thermometer/humidity meters I have in the cellar, the Elertus is not as accurate as the others. Humidity reading runs about 8 to 10% higher and temperature 3 to 4 degrees higher than the readings on the other 2 meters in the cellar. Each from a different manufacturer, the other 2 match each other within 1% humidity and spot on with the temperature as confirmed with a Fluke 63 infrared thermometer. Not a huge deal, but I would have been happier if the accuracy was a bit better. The Elertus unit is easy to set up and get online. Alerts can be sent via text and/or email as well as from the Elertus control screen on their website. I can imagine all sorts of uses for this type of sensor and alert system.

Easy to set up. Works like a charm. I haven't used a thermometer and humidistat to check its accuracy, but it appears to be in the ballpark.

Very inexpensive, but unfortunately comes across that way in the implementation. The startup and connection to your network should be simple, but I found it to be very inconsistent and wishing for more of a diagnostic than a single LED. The instruction sheet is incomplete, and going online to the FAQ filled in the gaps, but it still wasn't enough to get my device online. A final attempt with a call to support, I ended up getting a perky person who knew only what her script told her. She herself suggested the return, and so an hour later, I did. Still looking for a viable solution.
