This variety best oil popped, not air popped!!!!
Waaaaay too many duds...like a 1/4 to a 1/3. When they pop, they are heavy and don't come out well out of the air popper even though they are small when popped. When they pop, many of them are half size or "half popped."If I didn't know better I would believe this to be very old popcorn. That said, I purchased about 1 month ago and the expiration on the bottle is 2015. Something is wrong with this picture.I purchased the white birch and those were great, so I thought I would try a different kind and I am really disappointed in this red river popcorn. When you pay a premium for popcorn to be really good and it is worse than the 1.69 for a 2 pound bag from the grocery store, you really feel ripped off.I think the Fireworks should anty up and refund me or send me a new fresh batch.Do not buy this product!UPDATE:I spoke to someone at Fireworks and she said that ***Orchard Blossom, Sunset Fire and Wis. WhiteBirch*** are best for air poppers. All others really work best when popped in oil. This should be put in the description of the popcorns.I have upgraded my 1 star to 3 to be more neutral about this variety. I would assume that it is good if popped in oil, which I have not or do not do.Also, she graciously sent me a variety of the 3 that works best in air poppers.

Best popcorn I have ever eaten
I ordered two types of popcorn at one time. One, J&D's BaconPop, the other Fireworks Red River Valley.J&D's BaconPop has to be the worst bag popcorn I have ever tasted. I can even eat burnt popcorn but I cannot eat this stuff. The other five boxes will be donated to unsuspecting co-workers.Red River Valley. Arrived promptly, well packaged. The first night I popped some, I knew I would be popping a second batch. I never knew popcorn could taste this good.RRV pops up small. Tiny. I thought six containers would last a long time but I popped 1/4th of the first bottle with the first popping. So, compared to other popcorns, this stuff and its siblings is rather expensive for popcorn. However, I like it so much, I will not think twice about reordering.I have ordered several food products from Amazon lately and this has been the best surprise by far. Great popcorn.==================After a year, almost everyone that has eaten some of this popcorn states it is some of the best they have ever eaten. I eat it frequently. I have tried several recipes but my favorite is cooking with bacon grease and using Cajun spices with Louisiana Hot Sauce. The unpopped kernels taste great and I make sure I have plenty of those. It takes a lot of this popcorn to make a big batch because it is smaller. This also makes a great gift item. If we do a food basket, I repackage in decorative jars.

Meh
These kernels pop SO SMALL!!! I need to put in a cup of kernels to get a bowl of popcorn, and to give your comparison I use a little more then 1/4 cup with another organic popcorn brand and fill up my bowl. This corn is a little tougher - hence the crunchy characteristic. Taste wise I did not notice any difference. When I have anything that doesn't pop in the bottom of the bowl, I just put it back in the microwave and they pop. [The way I make popcorn is, porcelain microwaveable bowl, tea/tablespoon of water and either any type of oil plus salt, I use some smart balance, cover the bowl with another microwave safe plate - no plastic please - and set for about 4 mins (I cover the bottom of the bowl with kernels about 1/4 cup), the more you do it the more you get the hang of time vs quantity.] Overall I was not satisfied with this brand of organic popcorn and will not buy again. I will be going back to Arrowhead Mills Organic Yellow popcorn. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036Z3ULM/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details

Good popcorn!
My family has used a Whirly-Pop popper for several years and was happy w/ plain "Jolly Time" popcorn from our local grocery store. Over the last 6 months or so we've had more and more of a problem with hulls and "old maids". Our view was the popcorn quality had diminished and the only other choice at the local stores is Orvil Redenbacher, so I looked at Amazon. We are very pleased with both types of Fireworks Popcorn that I ordered (White Birch and Red River). White Birch is a slight favorite in our house, but both are much better than "Jolly Time". Hardly any hulls and only a couple of unpopped kernals. We are eating popcorn about every other day now as opposed to once a week, so the minimum order isn't too large a quanity. There is a subtle difference in taste and we are looking forward to trying other varieties. I highly recommend this product and will be ordering more in the near future. I just wish the variety packs were offered with free shipping too. Oh well.

It's no good anymore!
This was the greatest popcorn for 3 years now. It had so much flavor, very nutty, and woody. I ate it constantly and loved it every time. I ordered the 15 lbs buckets. This last time I ordered these little bottles and they were flavorless cardboard. So, I ordered a 15 lbs bucket again hoping it would be the same as the last three years. No dice.. flavorless cardboard just like these small bottles. I really miss the rich flavor of the last three years. I'm going to try calling the manufacturer to see if they can get me some good product. If not I will go on a quest like I did 3 years ago and try all the most expensive popcorn until I find another good one. 3 stars because that splits the difference... it was 5 stars plus and now it is 1 star minus.
