If You're Trying to Teach Kids How to Write . . . Revised Edition: You've Gotta Have This Book! (Ip, 62-5)

The author has done a nice job explaining the writing process and the purpose of it. It is filled with creative ways to motivate kids to want to write, evaluate their own writing and for sharing and displaying their finished pieces. Worthy investment and definitely one that won't just sit on the shelf and collect dust.

Useful material but the printing is substandard, which detracts from the importance and usefulness of the ideas. The hard-to-read pages have a low resolution as if they were mimeographed. Would be easier on the eyes to read if it were the money were paid for the pages to be reformatted and reprinted with crisp letters.

As a former teacher who couldn't have survived without this book, now I wanted to use it again with my grandchildren as we work on writing in this era of texting shorthand, brief notes & emails. Hopefully they will, minimally, develop a love for keeping a journal! :)

Love this book, as it is full of great creative ideas.

I love this book and have used its ideas with many years worth of high school English classes. Marjorie gets that all students have something to say and can be coaxed to say it well. Her writing prompts and philosophy promote enjoyable and fruitful learning for all writers, myself included.

The book has some great ideas, but it does look a bit outdated. It needs a facelift, but the content is decent.

I am a parent, and using this book to teach my 4th grader. Contents do not drive step-by-step learning process, it rather felt like an instruction book for grade teachers.If I knew how to teach writing, then I could use this book to know different techniques and material to improve.

Having taught elementary and middle school, I am continually delighted to find new and useful ideas in this book. I have bought several copies as gifts for other teachers. This is the one book in my professional library that is always checked out by my peers. Its worth the investment!

Awful! Thank goodness I bought it second hand. It's not at all inspiring. I found a wonderful series in Taiwan from a British writer. Sadly now out of print but wonderful for the children I teach.

Disappointing after its rave review. Much of what is in it can be found elsewhere, so it's really not worth buying.

You DON'T gotta have this book! I didn't find it particularly useful.

I had a copy before the flood in my house., so I was very pleased to secure another copy. It is the best book and came in better shape than advertised. Great service also!!!!
