Felonious Monk: 1 (Tommy Martini Novel)

I don't remember what brought me to this book but whatever it was I'm very glad ! The first thing I've read by this author and I loved the language, the descriptions, the characters and especially the hero. Hope there are more to come.

This was a departure from the usual thriller/action story but the central character was waaaaay too unbelievable. Rubbish really.

The author lost his way as he told the story. Give this book a hard pass. Not worth the price.

Actually 3.5 stars but rounded up due to the fast pacing, interesting plot twists, fun read if you can handle the body count. Many characters are stereotypical but interesting - the fellow who spends 5 years in a monastery after accidently killing a young man in a bar fight, the woman who is convinced we are all inhabited by nano sized aliens that she can exorcise (interestingly, does not charge for the service), the bent priest who assists in "rescuing" church properties put up for sale as the attendance declines, the connected cousin able to arrange all manner of "help" when it comes to body disposal. No, those aren't the stereotypical ones, that seems to be reserved for the numerous bad guys.

Wow, nonstop action with appropriate amounts of humor. No doubt a bit over the top in terms of realism, but very clever and nonetheless a fabulous read. Might make a great movie or series? Will definitely Check out other books.
