We’re setting up a treasure hunt for our son and we’re filling the trunk with a hand written ships log (took me forever!), a tri corner hat, a compass, a spy glass, fake gems, fools gold, and lots of metal coins. A five-year-old‘s not going to be able to tell the difference between fools gold and the real deal.

They are nice looking but really smaller than I thought. I have found better specimens in loads of limestone....BUT they will absolutely do the trick for the pirate treasure chest gift that I will be gifting my 7YO nephew. Cheers!

These are not natural pyrite and appear to painted gold on one side. Very disappointed. On a positive note, instead of using them for my collection, I added them to a black plastic cauldron to make a St. Patrick’s Day pot of gold decoration…and for that, they look just fine. These pyrite specimens are as real as the Leprechaun that came and stole my pot of gold from the end of the rainbow.

I gave each of my girls at work a nugget and told them they were worth a nugget of gold.

These were small. Only 1 or 2 good nuggets out of the 8, rest were sub par. Maybe I received a bad batch. Will return and see if next is better.
