The History of Graphic Design. 45th Ed.: 1890 - today (45th Edition)

Educational and great for inspiration.

I really love this book! It has all the high quality you would expect from Taschen and each page is full of an interesting assortment (some weird and wonderful too) of graphic design from the past 100 years from all fields of media. Full of colour and detail and many of the entries contain short descriptions. The book also has decade summaries and several pages on noted designers and artists (even art schools, typefaces, etc) that contributed significantly to the world of graphical media and design. A great book of inspiration for me as an aspiring graphic designer and just a lovely well-made and pleasing on the eye book to just pick up and browse at your leisure.

This book is good value for money as it is well researched, written and laid out. There are an enormous number of colour photogographs and illustrations. A must for any aspiring graphic designer.

It is for my daughter who is doing Granphic Design GCSE then will be doing at College. It is a bit like a5 size book but we'll made. Even I enjoyed looking through it.

Should have read the description more carefully as the book was smaller in format than expected. A shame really as it is a very useful book for anyone with a passing interest in graphic design or the more involved student or professional. Quality binding and hundreds of images. Interesting to see the emergence and development of various styles through the ages, and the quality of the work. Every graphic device and medium is featured making it a great reference. As with much art, we are standing on the shoulders of giants that want before us.

I firmly believe that this book is an essential addition to every designer's collection. It serves as a source of inspiration when fresh ideas are scarce. The book contains excellent examples of graphic design, with no unnecessary elements or questionable works.

The timeline in this book alone is just soooo worth it! Very informative and have citation on all artwork , sooo you can look up the artists!!

Zamówiłam książkę, której potrzebuję do nauki, zależy mi więc na czasie i nie mogę jej teraz zwrócić - ale niestety przyszła do mnie uszkodzona. Nie wiem, czy Amazon nie dba o pakowanie produktów, czy jest to wina dostarczycieli, ale nie jest to już pierwszy raz! Zazwyczaj zamawiam książki o designie, zależy mi więc na idealnej jakości, co tutaj się nie sprawdza. :/ Słabo.
