Helpful Review for Anyone Deciding Between Start-X and 12volt.Solutions
I hope this review helps with your decision! I’m very happy with my purchase. I spent quite a bit of time researching car starter options and eventually narrowed it down to the Start-X and 12volt.Solutions models. Both appeared comparable in functionality, but the 12volt.Solutions option was about $120 more. While they offer additional features like starting the car from your phone, that functionality isn’t included in the base price, it requires a separate purchase. Normally, I’m hesitant to choose the cheaper option, especially with electronics. To be thorough, I emailed 12volt.Solutions to let them know I was deciding between their product and Start-X, and asked them to explain the added value behind the higher price. Unfortunately, their response was generic and didn’t address my specific questions, which made my decision easier, I went with Start-X. My first installation attempt didn’t go smoothly, but that was entirely on me. The installation itself was straightforward, but the vehicle wouldn’t start after cranking. It turned out that the anti-theft system had prevented the engine from starting, and the module needed to be reset and reprogrammed. The instructions for this were included in the box, but because it was getting dark, my headlamp was dead, and I was rushing, I misread a step. I contacted tech support and received a response the next business day. About a week later, I tried again, this time carefully following the instructions, and realized I had been removing the wrong plug during the reset process. Once I corrected that, everything worked perfectly. Although I haven’t had it installed for long, I’ve run multiple tests and it has performed flawlessly. One small note: with my key fob, if I press the 3x lock sequence too quickly, the vehicle doesn’t start. Pausing about 0.5–1 second between presses solves this easily. Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the Start-X starter. The installation video was clear, tech support was responsive, and the product works exactly as intended. I’ll definitely purchase from them again for any future vehicles.

Works great in 2012 Toyota Sienna
Works great on a 2012 Sienna with traditional key start (not push button start). Watch the YouTube video on their website for easy install instructions. Then follow the module control steps in the included pamphlet. Took less than 30mins. As others have noted, the rear sliding door key fob buttons DO NOT work once you use the remote start. Contacted support and they said it’s a security measure to ensure doors do not open while running. Find that peculiar considering the front doors still unlock with the key fob post-remote start but I can live without it. The rear door key fob buttons DO work when you do not use the remote start option so it’s a give and take. When it’s 10below here in Michigan, I’ll take the remote start over the rear doors any day. If your rear doors do not work completely after install - you likley disabled them with the factory button which is located in a terrible spot directly below the steering wheel at about knee level. Didn’t realize this myself until I started reinstalling the dash panels. Overall for the price and ease of install, this is worth its weight in gold. No more cold mornings as these vans take forever to warm up so super nice to remote start from the house before having to take a drive in the AM.

Would recommend
Works as intended, installation and programming was straightforward and I had no issues.

So far so good
My husband was pretty weary about buying this remote start. We looked at more expensive ones that probably have longer range and an app for the phone but that's not something we really needed. Install was about 20 mins from start to finish, including programming the remote. We wondered if the valet key remote would be programmed as well and it was. All in all super happy with the ease of set up and excited to finally have a remote start. This was the 1st vehicle I have owened that has not had a remote start.

Bad Instructions
Could not get this thing work, despite following the instructional video and manual. I used all the included cables and the problem was at the programming setup. I followed both sets of instructions in the manual for programming (There's 2 different instructions depending on your type of Sienna) and in the end nothing would happen when pressing the lock button 3 times. Never during the setup did the programming go as the manual said it would. The lights on the control box that were supposed to light up or flash did not do so when the manual said they would. Over all the instructions were terrible, including the QR code video that's included in the box. In the video all they did is hook up the wires, but did not include the control box or the programming, and did a jump cut to the vehicle doing a remote start, skipping the rest of the setup. Amazing. There is a support email to contact in case you have problems. As a customer my time is better spent going to a shop for a remote starter install than waiting for someone to describe a technical electrical situation to me over email. I do have a background on working on vehicles, especially electrical. I did get a refund for this product and will be having a shop install a remote starter for me.

So far so good.
So far so good. Fairly straight forward install and the programming of the module wasn't too bad. Harness seems to be of pretty good quality, and module seems fairly solid. Hopefully this unit holds up for a long time.

This whole purchase was so super smooth! I ordered this, expecting it to arrive in the middle of January. It came just 10 days after I ordered (4 weeks early!) I watched a couple of installation videos on Youtube and it was exactly like the videos. I got one of my sons to help with finding a place to ziptie the module (as the videos didn't show that part) and he helped again with putting the plastic panels back on... I was being too gentle. Programming was exactly like the enclosed instructions. In total, it took us 45 minutes (in -1 degree weather!) It works exactly as it should. Even with the knock-off key fobs that we got on Amazon and programmed with an OBDII programmer. The range is incredible. I tried it last night, out of the line of sight, about 200 feet away, around a corner of a brick building, and it worked!

So far so easy to install , even when the instructions are not so clear is better whatch the video. The module in the video is deferente, however, a bit if intuitive thinking made understand that the kid is an improved version of the one in the videos… bottom line in 25-30 mins done all … impresive… no complains after 2 weeks of use… LOL

Video guide was very helpful in the installation process and the tool needed are provided in the box. Installation was very easy because of the video tutorial and concise instruction manual. The challenging part actually is hiding all that extra wiring and the remote box under the dash; but that's why they provided zip ties. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to others and I would 100% buy again for my next vehicle purchase.

Easy to install, took me about a couple hours, including a half hour consultation with one of their technicians. Works as supposed to, and best of all, you can remotely open the door without it shutting off.

Installed the harness and starter module in about 30 minutes for 2014 Sienna LE. Pretty easy to figure out. Too bad the video doesn't should the module portion but it's pretty easy to figure out with the pins. The programming I wasn't sure if I did it correctly but it starts and stops with the clicks of the oem fob. Overall super happy with it. Great for cold mornings and hot summer days. Can't use the fob for the automatic sliding doors once the remote starter is engaged so you'll have to pull the handles from the outside which still engages the automatic sliding door. edit: After some usage, I noticed if you auto start using the FOB and attempt to lock it after (with the headlight switched to Auto), it wont turn off the lights. You'll have to put the key in/out then it will turn off or you leave the headlight switch to off. had support messaged about this and they never replied after i asked if the auto light feature would turn off after the remote starting.
