Looks nice. polish to a nice shine. stainless. Seems stout enough. I can't test it under load yet in the water but claims 600 pounds which is good since I am 400 :-)The action seems to work well enough. I think the weak part is the separate mounting plate. I am a little concerned about the black portion of the mounting unit. that seems to be the logical weak point. that is my engineering side speaking it has given me no indication its a problem yet but that is the part I will be keeping an eye on.Overall pleased. compact expandable and looks nice as well. while they seem tight and give no indication of an issue I will also keep an eye on the overlays on the steps. hopefully they stay putSo far its given no reason to be concerned. I look forward to using it when I am finished this boat.

Both of my boats have transoms that are over two inches thick and the included bolts with shave down heads couldn't make it through a one inch hull. You might think oh well, I can buy longer bolts. You'd be wrong. Look at the second picture. They have shaved the heads of the bolts dangerously thin to work with their failed design. I have to send this back.

As others have stated, the screw heads are really thin and not long enough for any practical install. Also, the plastic steps feel really cheap. Ladder felt wobbly. Do not buy.
