If you are looking for a Dehydrator without plastic that is superior in every way, Stop, Look no further!
Out of the Box:The unit came with the Dehydrator unit, 10 Stainless Steel “Fine Mesh” Trays CD with How To Cook Book, and user manual.Pros:I found these to be very well design elements of this unit both before, during and after using it:Compact design: I am by no means saying this unit is small, but it isn't a behemoth either. I would compare it to a small microwave, which allows it to fit nicely on your counter top without take up too much space.Rack system: This is very nice, the trays have their own slots and sliding them in and out of these slots is very simple and hassle free. We also found that putting a second rack on top of the first rack allowed us to season the food on both sides without having to touch the food. A win in my book!Digital controls: I'm a big proponent of digital controls over manual controls. In my opinion this makes for setting the exact temperatures and times a breeze and should take the guess work out of dehydrating your favorite foods.Setup: Really, it couldn't be any easier, Plug it in and it is ready to go. I myself, did a out of the box washing of the unit, prior to the first use, but that is up to you.Stainless Steel: The outer case, the trays and most of the inner lining is all stainless steel. There is some plastic along the tray inserts and the edges of the unit, but nothing that interferes with the processing of your food.Cook Book: I found this to be extremely helpful and quite extensive covering a large variety of foods. I do however recommend that you save the file on the CD-ROM to a cloud based system you can access from your phone or tablet device, because having a laptop in the kitchen or running back and forth to your computer that has a CD-ROM player is going to get old mighty quick!Clean up: Easy to clean, but will take time considering you cannot remove the back of the unit. Honestly that is the only thing that would make clean up a snap, was being able to remove the back of the unit. The Trays are dishwasher safe, so no issues there.Warranty and Customer service: Key for items such as this. Their Customer service information is printed in bold type on a insert with the package along with days and times they are open, and a 3 Year warranty, very nice.Cons:I discovered these cons based on my experience on using the product, from setup to storage:Setting the Timer and Temperature: Considering the surface area of the digital control system, the adjustment buttons are extremely small and close together.Digital Temperature Display: The unit only displays temperatures in Celsius, so you better have a Fahrenheit conversion table handy when setting the temperature, you desire. They do have a sticker on the unit for conversions which is helpful, but not exact conversions just ranges.CD-Cook Book: I know what you are thinking, how can he list this as both a Pro and a Con. Well it isn't the Cook Book part that is the Con here, it is the CD-ROM itself. I'm running 64 bit Windows 10, and when I load up a CD-ROM, I expect it to auto-run and open the document without me having to do anything. However, there is no auto run on this CD, and the Cook Book is in PDF format, which the manufacturer assumes you already have Adobe Reader installed on your system. Additionally there is no mention of this in the manual, and if you do not have this application on your system or some other app that is able to read this file format, then you will have to search for either Adobe Reader or some other application to download and install.Safety Concerns:The outer case does get very warm to the touch, I wouldn't call it hot, but IMO you must keep children away from this unit during operation.Wish lists:Latching system for the Front Cover.Maintenance:Other than keeping the unit clean and debris free, there really isn't any.Personal experience:We tried making Taro chips, and set the unit for 12 hours at 60C. Unfortunately, since this was our first attempt they didn't turn out as we had hoped. This isn't the fault of the unit, but rather us getting used to the system and narrowing down the settings that are best suited for our needs/desires.Bottom Line:Overall this product works as advertised, and does an outstanding job dehydrating the food you are planning to store.Recommendation:Damn Good Buy!

Bottom line is that is does a great job and I found the level of the tray ...
I wanted the smaller size so the racks would fit into a standard sink for cleaning. I've seen complaints of the door rattling and it does a little bit but it's all metal and I don't use it in my bedroom. The temperature range is just right for everything from fruit to meats. Bottom line is that is does a great job and I found the level of the tray didn't matter as much as location of the food from front to back. I simply rotate the shelves half way through any drying process.

Need a large commercial dehydrator this is the one to buy.
This is a fine dehydrator, holds a lot of product, love the 40 hour timer; has centergrad temperature control which I had to consult the chart to set up and will memorize in time . I've done six or seven bunches of bananas in it and am enjoying eating them now ; looking for sales on bananas now. Will be making jerky when the sales permit it. MY wife plans to dry herbs and other vegetables. Apple's are waiting to be done. It's a horizontal dehydrator meaning the fan blows dry air across the product which is the best way to dry product. It's a very sturdy stainless steel cabinet with ten trays that have 1/4" sturdy s.s. metal cloth in them I believe.

Do not buy this product!!!!
I have owned this dehydrator for 9 months and it is no longer functional. It was used for 2 months minimally at the end of the summer for garden veggies then stored inside. When removed to use the beginning of July there is a catch in the select button on the top and it no longer is functional. I had purchased the optional 4 year warranty with it and learned when filing the claim that since there is a 3 year warranty on the product through the manufacturer it is only valid for the last year (another large disappointment). The company will fix it but it must be packed and shipped to them which with the size and weight costs upwards of $60. The STX company condemned the warranty company when speaking with them on the phone and wishes "they wouldn't sell the product with it on Amazon". The warranty company will not address paying for the shipping back to the manufacturer. The product has barely been used and is a waste of $250 when all is accounted for. I'm dehydrating in small batches with my Ninja which rocks! Buyer beware!Amendment 9/5/20, after finding I had no help from the 4 year warranty I purchased I spent the $70 to ship the dehydrator back to STX international and even had to include an extra $25 to help them ship it back to me. It arrived yesterday evening and we tried to use it today. The start/select started to work one time, allowed us to adjust the time and temp then would work again to get the machine to start. We double checked that we were doing it correctly with the quick start instructions and we were. The machine is still not functional! This is borderline a criminal waste of money because she's still "dead Jim". I'm still using my little Ninja who's working like a charm.
