Color:Black  |  Size:1/2-Inch (Pack of 1) Prime steel 18024 hitch lock - 1/2-inch diameter - black - pack of 1 is engineered to make a tow vehicle and trailer more secure by keeping them locked up tight. Similar to a hitch pin and clip, a hitch lock is designed for insertion into the fastener hole in the side of a receiver tube in order to hold a ball mount or hitch-mounted accessory in place. While prime steel, hitch pins do offer sufficient strength for keeping a ball mount firmly attached; a prime steel hitch lock goes one step further. Prime steel hitch locks allow the ball mount to be locked into the trailer hitch, which deters theft and prevents others from detaching the trailer at the ball mount and towing away your property without permission. This prime steel hitch lock features a barbell design and comes with a 1/2-inch pin diameter to fit a 2-inch receiver tube size. Prime steel barbell hitch locks are comprised of a pin with two end caps and a locking mechanism. They are key-operated and activate with a simple 1/4-turn. They also include with a watertight dust cap to keep out the elements and prevent corrosion. Prime steel Inc. Delivers 25-years of manufacturing excellence to the doorstep of customers.

DO NOT TRUST It has serious design flaws
Please DO NOT TRUST this to secure your trailer. The tail piece is simply held on with a roll pin. Two light taps with a punch and the pin is out and tail cap falls off. No keys needed. The roll pin is soft and not even quality spring steel. The shaft was rusty, and a quick file test indicates that it is mild steel. I don't know the regulation for trailer hitch pins, but I do know that all other pins I own are hardened steel. It is meant to be used on a smaller receiver, so there is that.Oddly, because of the flawed design, it actually works in my favor. I had actually been planing to cut the shaft shorter and welding on a new end cap to use it in a non hitch related project. Now all I need to do is cut it and drill a new pin hole, which will be easy since it is mild steel, and then weld it back on.If you do need to use it, I would suggest cleaning up the rust, replace the roll pin with a quality one, and JB weld or actually weld the shaft and roll pin in place. Also I would suggest using it as a light duty pin or just as a lock, and use a higher quality pin to secure the hitch.

Looks nice, no keys though
Missing the keys. Probably the folded cardboard shipping method instead of a real box. Looks nice and secure though.....
