My wife got this as a Christmas present for me and is very happy with the board and chess pieces. The chess men are very heavy and and sit flat on the board with felt on the bottom so as to not mar the board. The board also has felt on the bottom and sits completely flat with a smooth marble like surface. This is an absolutely beautiful chess set, you will not be disappointed. My wife also appreciated the colourful coaster they included with the shipment.
