Ideal site chisels, lightweight, they take a beating. As long as you keep them good and sharp, I really like using these.

Exactly what I needed for my trade of work concrete and Formwork

Okay, okay. So my experience with chisels has generally been good. I'm a hobbyist woodworker and father and have been moving more into the hand tools realm, for my fingers' and children's sake. Don't get me wrong, I love my through-tang Stanley FatMax chisels, much to the chagrin of the hard-core woodworkers out there. They're well-made, sharpenable, and they hold an edge. Those are relatively new and made in England or the U.S. I also went rogue and have some MKC mortise chisels though don't have much experience to review those yet. I'm originally from Tool Town and nearby (in Mass.) so I grew up seeing nice tools. Sadly, almost none were passed down to me except for the occasional Starrett made down the street and Miller's Falls a few town away. I decided to go with this other Massachusetts company (formerly from Sheffield, U.K., from where I have other tools), Buck Bros. They have some cheap planes that show up in big box stores that I have yet to try but I never saw this chisel. It's not a through tang, which is a bit disappointing to me, but that's common for even the best as you'd often make a new handle if yours broke, so that's unlikely to be a deal breaker. It came sharp, but not sharp enough to press through end grain, so basically your typical sharpness. After a quick hit with a 400 and 1000 diamond stone and some further polishing with a double sided strop, I had it to the point of being able to slice through end grain without needing a mallet, not that it's a common thing to do with this type of chisel. Most of all, it's 1-1/2"! This may be my new workhorse. The 2" looked too large for typical use but this one feels just right. The blade is long enough to go deep into mortises if needed. While the handle isn't as long as or comfortable as my Stanley FatMax, it's completely useable and I don't forsee issues with it. It has a steel strike cap to distribute force, and it's rounded. We'll see how it plays with my beech wood mallet long term, but it hasn't caused any issues short term. It has a good weight and hardness. I can't speak to how the edge holds long term, but given the origin, I expect it to hold up well. Lastly, the price. What can I say other than that it's generally hard to get a good tool made with good steel at this price.
