Exceptional Product that fits very well between toes
These toe separators have worked out very well for me. I have worn them for a week and I do not feel them which is new to me with toe spacers. I cannot tell you how many I have tried! The thin ones didn't do the job and the thicker material ones felt uncomfortable. I only need one on each foot between the big toe and the second so that my large toes don't move over any more making the bunion stick out even more. My feet feel much more comfortable now when I am on walks/well, all the time.I have a hammer toe on my left foot and in my pretty flats you can see the toe bump there. Those of you with this condition know what I mean. That toe even makes the shoe not go on easily. So, for many shoes, what I do on that foot is to put this toe separator in and then use a two inch piece of clear skin tape...press that toe down...put the tape down on the top across about 3 toes, and Viola! On goes the sock and I have a foot that looks normal in my shoe plus comfortable. I figured this out after many other experiments. It sounds bulky but its not.The best thing of all is that once these toe separators are put on they don't move around even when I am putting my socks on. The material is just softer than usual. And another thing! I like to throw my toe spacers into my nightly tub bath water before I get in and then wash them with soap and water when I am in the bathtub. Well, once one went down the drain stopping it up. I have promised my husband not to do that again but I can wash these that way (if I want) because they are thick enough not to plug up the drain !One more thing...if your feet are small they can be cut at the very top to make them shorter. I wear a size 9 shoe and they are just right for me. The difference between this product and other larger toe spacers is that the material is softer. These are not small. Be sure to look at the size in the picture before ordering. Maybe you would want thinner, smaller spacers but those didn't work for me. These are the answer for me. Thanks!

A Design Break-Through
I have a MILD BUNION deformity in which my big toe slightly crosses over and creates marginal pressure on my 2nd toe. In the interest of preventing this condition from worsening (& preventing occasional skin abrasion on my 2nd toe), I've used toe separators for many years--mostly PediFix single-loop Bunion Relievers). However, the looped model, made of soft gel material, became function-less over time: The loop-strap around my 2nd toe would eventually tear, and the separator portion would compress and fail to separate my toes anymore. So far, these Dr. Fred's Toe Separators have provided an IMPROVED DESIGN & FUNCTION for me: They (1) fit well and stay in-place between my medium-length toes all-day, even through fitness workouts; (2) significantly separate my toes, and (3) have not caused any of the discomfort from the flared-base that other reviewers have complained about. As I continue to wear them daily, I will monitor their performance and post any updates of note. Should the gel-portion that separates my toes lose firmness over time, it will be good to have the two extra pairs that came with the order.

Effective
My podiatrist gave me a few foam toe separators to place between my big toe (hallux) and the next toe, which has developed a bony side protrusion (hammertoe) that rubs against the hallux. I was sure to eventually lose them, so I ordered these gel separators, which are more durable and easier to clean than the foam ones. They are rather thick, but as the product description states, you can trim them. That was a bit tricky; there's no real way to slice them, even with an exacto blade. I was, however, able to produce a thinner separator -- albeit with one bumpy side, where I'd snipped away repeatedly with scissors. I kept the flared piece that rests on top of the toes intact. The flare keeps the separator in place. As a result, the product works well. In fact, I recently walked six miles on two consecutive days and had no foot pain. That would have been impossible for me without toe separators.

Comfortable and effective
I’ve had a bunion for many years. Surgery failed and it came back in a few years. In the last few years my foot shape has started to degrade and turn inward because of the bunion. I’ve tried many of these kinds of things including separators and bracing. They were uncomfortable to wear all day. These are comfortable. I wear them at least 23 hours a day, only removing for showers. They are correcting my foot problem from turning inward. The bunion doesn’t have as much redness and is a little upward facing now as opposed to this huge thing sticking out the side. I believe the improvement in my foot is due to this very orthotic piece because it is comfortable to wear and therefore I wear it all day and night, consistently and only remove it for bathing. Try it for a few months and see if it helps you. It’s not a quick fix and the key is consistent long term wear. Good luck.

Painful when walking
I bought these toe separators to compare to another pair I was also purchasing. Unfortunately, these ones killed my feet and I had to take them off after only wearing them for 2 hours. These definitely separated my toes as they should however, walking was super painful on the bottom of my foot. The rubber was pushing into the bottom of my foot every single time I took a step. I thought maybe I had them on wrong so I pulled them off and flipped them over but no luck... they still really hurt my feet.I figured that since they did separate my toes well, I would try wearing them to bed. In order to wear them to bed I need to wear socks on my feet because they don't stay in place well. I will keep them and use them for this purpose but for the purpose of walking... I will have to use the other brand I purchased.
