PELLVAC Whirlwind Ash Cyclone Suction Hose

I bought this from Amazon Warehouse Deals thinking it was a vacuum, but it's not. It is a cyclone that is impervious to potentially hot materials such as ash. Now I haven't tested it with ash as I wanted to use it to vacuum up very got grinding dust and mettal shavings from a lathe and milling machine.When I tried it out, I was amazed at how well it worked though it really looks nothing like a conventional, conical cyclone. I tried it out with metal dust, metal shavings, plastic bits and a huge amount of sawdust and wood shavings ranging from very small to very large. It handled it all.I did a back-to-back test (same material in both cases) against a small plastic cyclone (one of the better ones) and it performed astonishingly better, allowing only a tiny fraction of the very finest material through to the vacuum. I plan to use it as a key part of my machine shop metal material collection system feeding its metal host directly from a belt grinder and a grinding wheel, but I will also certainly use it when I am making large numbers of small very hot chips on my lathe and milling machine. I have no doubt that even red hot metal will be sufficiently cooled by its passage through the system that in the unlikely event it did eventually reach the vacuum, it would be quite harmless to the vacuum's filter.
