What a fascinating book! For all of those who love archaeology, especially when it pertains to confirming the Scriptures, you will enjoy this. I absolutely love the way Jean-Pierre Isbouts writes! He is very thorough yet not tediously boring, giving many historical traces of the development of cultures, languages, and Empires, using maps and actual photos of the sites and of the finds. I love it!

I just received this book today, and have flipped through it and scanned some pages.I LOVE the maps! There’s timelines at the bottom of the pages, there many many gorgeous pictures. It starts at 500,000 BC when homo erects appears in Africa and goes through to 313CE. It basically goes through the Bible and the story of the books and just states whether or not the archeology supports what is written. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. You can’t really expect stories that were passed down orally for hundreds and hundreds of years before they were written down to get everything perfectly right.

Since this is a Nat Geo book, you know the photographs are out of this world beautiful. It's a big heavy book, but one you can get immersed in w/ a lot of detail and explanations

I am a Buddhist and wished to learn a bit more about the Christian Religion. This book has some wonderful information that I needed to understand some of the findings in archeology and the history of the Bible. Great cost, too.

It was gorgeous. The pictures are enthralling and my husband. He loved it and started reading straightaway!

I am collecting all of Mr. Isbouts books for my Christian reference library. I love the larger size, the gorgeous images, and the easy to understand, practical text/narrative. I really learn better when the presentation includes images and text in beautiful and creative ways. I also as part of my Christian experience, think alot about the time that Jesus Christ lived in -what it was like, what were the people like, who were the Romans, and so on, and I feel this book helps me formulate the conclusions that I come to. It's a book I will return to again and again, and one I can share with my relatives and friends as part of conversations about life and God.

Book content itself is ok. Interesting. But the book came late and also with creases cover and damaged spine. A bit of a let down.

Excellent National Geographic book. Well laid-out and illustrated.

Such a mammoth work by Isbouts, and so replete in Biblical detail, Excellent!
