Learn how to make the best use of your Halogen Oven
I purchased the Halogen oven for my wife as she was trying to help us eat healthier and that meant moving away from fried foods. She really liked this little oven but wondered about how some of her recipes would work in it as the directions in most cookbooks were for conventional ovens and this oven is anything but conventional. It cooks things quicker. So, we purchase this cookbook and discovered lots of recipes that are very tasty and cook quickly with this new Halogen cooker. What was better was that as you read through it you get a good idea of how long items will take to cook in your new Halogen Oven and that makes it easier to translate those times to other recipes you have for conventional ovens. Overall we are very satisfied with this cookbook

wonderful cookbook whether or not you have a halogen oven
i bought a halogen oven and needed guidance beyond the manual this is a wonderful cookbook i have the british version and do not find it a problem as one of the reviewers did but there is now also an american version with all the conversions done for you i also bought a couple of cookbooks for the oven by other authors and never use them not only were sarah's hints on how to best use a halogen oven useful but her recipes are really yummy tomorrow i will try my first yeast bread recipe but i have been using the cookbook for several months now and have yet to be disappointed

Sarah Flower cooks like I do
I don't "do" recipes very well, preferring instead to just throw stuff together. I had been hoping my BIG BOSSTM 1300-Watt Oil-Less Fryer, 16-Quart would be my go-to cooker instead of the microwave, but I haven't quite been able to figure out how to get the timing and temperature right for good results and so have not used it as frequently as I thought I would. Immediately on receiving this cookbook (now with measurements adjusted for U.S. cooks!), I could see what I've been doing wrong. Flower's introduction both corrected my technique and gave me confidence that, yes, I will be able to follow my "just throw stuff together" predilection. Flowers encourages experimentation, and it's clear she loves her halogen oven. Each recipe is laid out with the ingredients separated from the "put it together" part and arranged to the outer portion of the page to make it easier to assemble ingredients beforehand. For people who are averse to recipes, like me, this is a helpful arrangement. To try the recipes, I can make myself assemble the ingredients or, as is my wont, just scrounge around for something similar to throw together. As far as the recipes themselves go, there are easier ones (like the potatoes, snacks, and sandwich-type dishes) that seem ideal to give the new halogen oven owner experience with how it works. There are casseroles and vegetable dishes and even cakes and other desserts, along with the meat, fish, and poultry dishes. A few require you to pre-prep ingredients on the stovetop, but most of them can be handled entirely with the oven. The value of this book is as a learning tool to help you get used to, and actually use, your halogen oven. It has a good variety of recipes to allow you to put your halogen oven through its paces, but once you have done that, if you're anything like me, you'll be putting together your own dishes out of ingredients you have on hand. There aren't a lot of books out there on halogen ovens, so if you are new to them, you can't go wrong getting this book. The tips peppered in here and there are helpful, too. (I thought the one from the RVer about using a halogen oven as a mini-dishwasher was fantastic!)

Splendid resource
What an excellent resource for users of this technology. Converting from metric is no big deal, and knowing both systems of measurment can be useful. Too, the recipes are simple, with items easily found or substituted. I am thrilled to have so much in one book. The author has given us healthy cooking, common sense suggestions with recipes for vegetarians as well as those who want a good meal without the fuss, well, what more can you ask.

The Everyday Halogen Oven Cookbook
I was a little disappointed in this cookbook. I got a Halogen Oven as a gift & had no instructions. This left me at a loss as to how long to cook anything. This is the 2nd book I ordered ( I sent the 1st one back). My problems with this book is it uses ingrediants that most people don't have available in their cupboards or refers. Many odd recipes, for me at least, but the cooking times & temps will help me with using my machine. Have tried one of the meals & although the meal was very good the chicken was not done so had to cook just it longer. No problem but was disappointed the whole meal was not ready at the same time. This meal had potatoes, vegies & chicken. Will continue to use it as it's going to help me in getting used to the difference in cooking. Should have looked inside this book
I am sure this is a great book if you live in the UK. However I, like another reviewer would have preferred an American author. There are some recipies that I have no clue what the basic dish is by the title. I have the ability to change metric into US measures but I would prefer the US verson. Just lazy I guess! I am sure Ms. Flower is an excellent cook. It's just an old America addage, "Keep it simple stupid". With this book I feel stupid..And as my title says, I should have looked inside before I ordered it.

Love it!
So far we are loving this. I wasn't expecting the sheer size or weight - I didn't read the descriptions very clearly lol The "bowl" is this glass as is the cover. I was initially concerned because the glass cover cannot be "dis-attached" from the electric motor, was concerned about clean up. Very little gets on the glass cover, a simple wipe with a damp towel is all it takes to clean it up. The glass is surprisingly easy to clean as well - but it does have some weight to it so may not be a good choice for elderly cooks.

Very dull book.
Just a long list of individual recipes, with a few meal planner near the end of the book.No photographs of finished recipes.

I use this recipe book every time I use my new Halogen oven. Never having used a halogen before my recent purchase this book has proved invaluable to me. Not only for recipes but the tips and experience of cooking with her oven by the author is a constant point of reference of "how to do" for me. Excellent!
