It is just what it claims to be
I LOVE this rotary cutter!! I just cut 8 boxes of fabric into strips Continued using to make a quilt and it is still sharp I bought replacement blades but have not had to open them The angle of my hand and wrist when cutting means less stress and strain on my 80 yr old hand I was skeptical because it is plastic but it is completely sturdy and not heavy to use

Best Rotary Cutter - Buy it, because it's awesome
This is a game changer. I had one of the brands sold at the national fabric stores. I've been fighting it for way too long. I was changing the blade every 2-3 projects, because the blade would skip. I tried to revive my cutting mat, thinking it might be the problem. I saw this cutter mentioned in a FB sewing group. Watched one video from Martelli, and I was sold. The ergonomics of this device is awesome. It makes a lot of sense. This is the best rotary cutter with the sharpest blade I've ever seen. Cuts through layers like butta. Feels natural in the hand. If it doesn't, you're holding it wrong. Search for Martelli videos on youtubez. Learn how to use it correctly. First project with this cutter was apparel patterns. Maneuvers easily around a pattern. Because I no longer feel the need to put a lot of force behind it like the others, and because the blade is so good, I can be super accurate. No sawing back and forth. No pulling on the fabric. No hand fatigue. It's great. It really is.

A Game Changer
I still have my Olfa Rotary cutter from 30 years ago. It is 45mm. I purchased and Olfa 60mm with the squeeze and release handle. I love them both. The Martelli is very different. I gave it 4 stars for ease of use because changing the blade is counterintuitive. But there are vids on it. Pros: Easy to close the blade, and you just have to roll to release the cover...very clever. It is ergonomic...it feels just right in my hand and I have far less fatigue. It works WONDERFULLY with my Stripology ruler..much better than my Olfa. I think that it is the higher clearance on the blade. I have had not problems cutting through multiple layers of fabric. Worth noting, that trying to cut through more than 4 layers is inviting trouble...you may get through more layers but your cuts will suffer in my view. I also like that it sits nicely blade down on cutting board. I am one of those people who do not always retract blade. However if it tips over, it is much more dangerous than a flat cutter. I keep a reused deli tray to place it in which keeps blade out of harms way. Cons...the method for changing the blade very different. So watch the vids on it. Also make sure that you buy blades that have a round center v a notched center when buying non Martelli blades. They state that the notches will fatigue the screw. Make test cuts first so that you don't veer right. My first couple of cuts were not so great, but I quickly developed the right technique. I'm really happy that I gave this a try. Any suffering from repetitive stress in hands/wrists/forearm will welcome using this product.

Works well.
Takes a minute to become familiar with the cutter, but it's worth taking the time to learn. Shipped in a decent amount of time. Packed in a padded envelope, but arrived in good condition. All in all, a good experience.
