First sip was a great latch !
Soon as I opened this out the package , washed it and put some juice in it for my one year old son. He’s VERY PICKY with straw cups so I been using avent right now and he’s great with it. I jus don’t like the leaking from the avent cup. This tommee tippie straw cup was a hit. I gave it to him immediately after the juice to see if he would like the straw and hold it. He had no issues. I let him sit with it by his self for a few seconds viewing it. And he continued to drink the juice. This makes me happy because I hate buying cups for him and he jus twists his face in disgust lol. He doesn’t like long straws at all ; the avent straw cups have the perfect length. Not too long. So this cup always has a good length on it. Munchkin straw cups are good ( in my eyes lol ) but the straws are too long so I cut them so my son can latch easier as he’s used to with the other cups. Trial and error is so true and real with toddlers !

The only straw cups for toddlers
It's so difficult to find a perfect straw cup for toddlers. I originally came across these because I needed a straw cup for a child who aspirates and these actually have a valve which slows the drink down. I've tried every brand on the market and stopped when we found these. We only buy these cups for my toddler so we have a collection of them and you can mix and match the lids. They aren't totally leak proof, and chances are your kid will figure out how to shake it upside down to leak. But when left on it's side, only a couple drops (what was in the short portion of the straw) will come out. I mix my child's formula right in this cup and shake it with a paper towel over the top because it will splatter with vigorous shaking. If you mix formula in it, you'll need to vent it after mixing before the straw will work.

I like these because my son does.....
I want to love these because my son does but they have some issues! Below are pros and cons of using as a bottle replacement with a one year old!Pros1. Easy to clean and take completely apart2. My son learned quickly how to drink from this and any straw3. They are insulated, perfect for milk4. They close thank god!5. They have cute designs!6. Easy transition for bottle for us!Cons1. They LEAK bad! If even slightly open the will drip or poor milk.2. Sometimes if you fill it up the top then open it will spray milk in your face!3. You cannot fill it more than 3/4 full.4. A little bulky for small hands.I will continue to use these however because my son enjoys them as his “big boy cup” however if I could go back I’d research a different cup.

Love this cup!!
This cup is easy to clean and durable. I would also say it is 99% leak proof. I only had maybe 2 incidents of minor leaking when the straw was left up. I have not had the problem ever when the straw was in the closed position. I would definitely recommend this cup also to kids that have issues swallowing. This straw does a great job of controlling the flow as well.

Good purchase
I love these cups because I can close the top and the straw is not exposed. Sometimes liquid leaks out of the straw if it is too full, but for the most part it does not leak often. The straw can be tricky to keep clean, but I use a straw cleaner and soak them in hot soapy water.

Okay Straw Cups
These cups are okay. They are very hard to open if the straw part is closed so my toddler isn't able to open and close it on his own. Also the straw will leak - fluids just pour out. I only use for water so not a big deal to clean up spills. It's hard to take apart the straw part and put back together to clean. Not impossible but certainly not easy. Cups are very sturdy. No damage after months of occasional use and lots of drops on hard tile floors.

Favorite straw cups
My son loves these cups. They are easy to handle and when he throws them on the ground there is little to no spillage. When I say throw, I mean he throws them as hard as he can!!! Very durable! I break them apart and stick them in the dishwasher to clean...they hold a little water but I just put them on a rack to dry and have had no issues.

Amazon has no option to choose the cup style!
My son does well with these cups (except for chewing at the straws as he is teething, therefore I have to replace them after several months since I can't find replacement straws). However, I have been very frustrated with ordering this product on Amazon. The first time we got these cups, we received the lime and teal set, however when I reordered we got somewhat more girly ones that are light blue with pink and purple with orange (same sayings on the 2 cups), but we decided to just keep them since it wasn't worth the shipping hassle. This time when we reordered, we got very girly cups that are purple with pink lids and have a totally different decal on the front. I am frustrated that Amazon has no option to choose which cups you get! I would pay a dollar or 2 more to not have the frustration of getting unknown cups!
