A lot of the 1/4-20 knobs are small diameter and others have a rough alligator finish. Those will work okay but I prefer the smooth ones like this, they feel and look better imo. These also do not have the thread lock insert so they operate freely which in my application is better.

Re threaded some to metric. Nice handles.

"Star-Knobs" usually come in either five or six-pointed handles. For me, the decision between the two is easy. "Get the five-star knob." Look, you probably have five digits per hand. The extra distance between handle-points in a five-pointed handle is so much more cofortable than a six, there is no fair comparison to make. My purchase price was 100% worth it. I also bought some T-track slot bolts to go with them, and I couldn't be happier with these two fitting so perfectly together. I use these to clamp down larger items on my table saw, and together they offer such versatility, their value cannot be denied. A solid recommendation from me on these!

what the difference is finish on knobs and the inserts are not what is in picture . They work fine but not what I thought I was getting.

I used these to replace the cheap plastic knobs on the shutoff gates on my pool pump. The originals broke off. I had to rethread the shafts on the gates for these to fit. Not the sellers fault. I ordered them this way. After the rethread the knobs went right on. Now I have knobs that I can grip and pull and push the gates open and closed The shoulders on these knobs are nice and thick and the brass inserts provide for a good seat on the shaft

I use these for easy removal of a car rooftop carrier box. They are large, nut is securely embedded and very strong. Easy to tighten and held on a 1000 mile road trip. Would buy again.

I use a lot of these “star knobs” in jigs that I made for my workshop. Sometimes I need knobs that are small in diameter to fit in a tight space, but when there’s no restriction on space, I use these Tay tools knobs. As with many such knobs, the metal screw can go all the way through the knob, and stick out the top, which is handy when the screw happens to be longer than you need it to be.
