Fine speakers for Atmos music
These speakers are excellent as height speakers in an Atmos/Surround system intended for music reproduction. I set up a 7.1.4 system using four SVS Elevation for the height speakers, and two SVS Elevation speakers for the rear surround. They are perfect for the purpose, and integrate nicely with and supplement my larger, main, L/C/R/Surround speakers using room/speaker eq software (Dirac Live). Measured frequency response was down to between 50 and 60 Hz (depending on location), consistent with the SVS specs. I've had them for several weeks, listening to a variety of styles, including rock, jazz, classical, techno, electronica, and these speakers sound fine for all genres and styles. Physical installation is straight forward using the included hardware and template. Thanks to the angled (about 20 degrees) baffle, a high wall mount works fine instead of risking your life installing on a ceiling. The instructions direct installing at least two of the mounting bracket screws into studs. In my house, the wall studs were not convenient for all speakers. Therefore, I installed a couple of speakers to drywall using zinc drywall anchors, and it worked just fine for me. I used #6 metal anchors with the screws provided by SVS (which are washer head, necessary). These speakers installed on a wall will not accommodate banana plugs, unless they are very small, I used a bare wire connection, which worked great. The bare wire holes will accept 10 or 12 gauge speaker wire with no problem. I used a socket wrench (gently) to get them nice and tight. The cosmetics for the black ash (actually vinyl) are good enough. The black ash version doesn't show fingerprints or other signs of handling. The surfaces have some texture, which is helpful when mounting. I've seen the SVS glossy black/white finishes, they are nicer, but the black ash vinyl has a fine, neutral appearance. Along with the speakers, you also get first class customer technical support. I pummeled SVS with numerous questions, and always received polite, and helpful responses, usually within one day of my email. These are fine supplemental speakers for Atmos height and back surrounds. They are very efficient and will not stress an AVR. Matching them to larger speakers is simple, either using software or making a manual adjustment by ear (I did both). The mounting hardware is a simple, intelligent design. The instructions enclosed are great, and SVS customer service is exemplary. These speakers are, in my opinion, a great value.

Superb Dolby ATMOS Performance
I did a lot of research on a Dolby ATMOS and various ATMOS speaker products prior to my purchase. The reflective type speakers that bounce sound waves off the ceiling were not convincing to me in their scope of operation. My sloped ceilings were also of concern for reflective speakers. When I came across SVS Prime Elevation Speakers and read how the speakers function in a home theatre environment, particularly in a Dolby ATMOS role I knew I found the proper solution. The resulting performance is just spectacular! Instead of relying on reflective sound wave ceiling bounce, the SVS Prime speakers project the sound directly into the listening area. The resulting ATMOS effects are spot on accurate. Another factor in my decision was noticing speaker types used in professional applications like movie theaters which use downward firing height speakers installed near the ceilings. I particularly enjoy playing Apple's Dolby ATMOS Spatial Audio music, WOW, the effects and accuracy of the tracks with my AVR system and the SVS Prime speakers are absolutely amazing, it literally feels like you're sitting in the middle of the band performing the song. While the SVS Prime speakers are in the premium price range I assure you they are worth it for the premium performance you will receive from these magnificent speakers. I also appreciate the premium build quality of the SVS Prime Speakers and how well they blend esthetically with my Definitive Technology Speakers. Now I just need to get my speaker wire into the wall, too hot for an attic trip in the desert summer of AZ. Dolby ATMOS performance notes; After some trail and error I discovered Dolby ATMOS has configuration requirements for proper performance. If you also use wireless speakers in your system Dolby ATMOS will not be available when your wireless speakers are connected. Dolby ATMOS apparently only functions when it detects a proper Dolby speaker setup; 5.1.2, 7.1.2 etc. I also discovered when the wireless speakers are connected to my system and I'm browsing movies in Apple TV, Dolby ATMOS enabled content will not display 'Dolby ATMOS' as being available?! I disconnected my wireless speakers and the same movie would then display 'Dolby ATMOS' as being available. I found it enlightening that even my streaming video device apparently checks for proper Dolby speaker requirements and only displays the Dolby content it can produce based on your systems speaker setup. Great Dolby Atmos speakers
First I gave Durability 5 stars, but it is way too early to actually say that. But the build quality is excellent. They look as well made as my old B&W surrounds, rear and center speakers and those have been around for well over 20 years. BTW, these match those speaker cabinets almost exactly. I like the smaller size of these while still putting out nice sound volume. Based on my Marantz AV7703 setup, they are pretty efficient speakers compared to my other speakers because at the end of the setup, the SVS speakers had to have the volume relatively reduced compared to my other speakers. Added high fronts and high sides for the Atmos portion of the 11.2 output . Immediately widened and heightened the sound stage dramatically. Now there is this very nice across the wall and to the side and behind me sound stage. The instructions and template helped me set these up quickly. I mounted them at the wall corner near the ceiling for the front and side (instead of over head on the ceiling). Depending on the side you are facing when fitting them onto the mounting plate, that can be tricky to get the speaker pins into the plate. You might want to practice before actually doing it with cables attached. Speaker cable connections are comprehensive, but there really is no room to mount these on the wall/ceiling using banana plugs. Also, the U-spades tend to loosen too easily, so I found using speaker connectors with pins that insert into the binding post holes then tighten the binders to be the most secure and least likely to get loose. Had them for over a month now and really like them and what they have added to my home theater setup.

Great sound
Why did you pick this product vs others?: The black against white ceiling is not great but meh They sound great and fill in the atmos sound stage nicely I’m using them with dlk model 4 and 1 1/2 with an SVS 2000 sub and a paradigm center

Great alternative to in-ceiling speakers
I bought these about two months ago to replace my Pioneer Atmos modules and it was worth it. SOUND QUALITY BEATS ATMOS MODULES Firstly, the frequency response of these speakers is 55hz to 20khz so the sound is a way more detailed than the Pioneer Atmos modules. This is because atmos modules primarily are only able to effectively bounce off sounds whose frequencies are greater than 180hz. The result is overhead effects with less bass which is crucial for sounds like planes flying overhead or airborne explosions. EASIER TO INSTALL THAN CEILING SPEAKERS SVS gives you the option to drill holes in your walls and mount the speakers with screws and mounts included. Or you could mount them to the ceiling. **** If you are planning on mounting them on your wall, make sure to give at least 3-5 inches of space from the top of the ceiling so you can hook the mount over the screws in the walls.

HIT! Great speakers - MISS-Be sure to use different wall anchor/screws
I am using these as height front speakers for my Sony 7.1 STRDN 1080. What an incredible sound, I now have an operational 5.1.2 system and this set up makes a huge difference in my movie watching experience. Dolby Atmos is amazing. TV and audio are in my open living room and as a result I am not able to set up my speakers for the ideal dolby atmos environment. Even considering this limitation, my SVS Prime Elevations as a left/right height speaker above my main speakers is very nice for movies, sports and music. I got the piano black finish. This matches my Definitive Technologies front speakers (D9) and rear (D7) speakers. My only complaint (which does not impact the speakers sound) are the wall anchors that are included with the mounting kit. These do not even come close to being competent in mounting these speakers. I a few comments in reviews but just assumed folks were not using the drywall anchors properly. I had a hard time believing that a quality product like this would chinch on a wall anchor and screw??? I would be hesitant to hang anything that weight more than 2 lbs on these screws and anchors. It's disappointing and makes me think - what other short-cuts were taken. While I have not found anything, other than this, that has not met or passed my expectations - I could not give a perfect five-star rating as I consider this a pretty big miss. Problem is easily enough resolved, I had extra wall anchors and screws and used these to mount my SVS Elevations. The mounting system (sans the screw/anchors) is also very nice and the speakers are wonderful!! Eliminate the screw and anchor issue and this would be a five vs four star rating without a doubt!!!
