This works well for our family
We got this because we have a young adult child with brain injury who escapes out the back door when no one is looking, and also likes to go into the bathroom in the middle of the night and overflow the sink. After waking up to an inch of water on the bathroom floor, we decided we needed to take drastic action. Because our other daughter has autism, we couldn't use the alarms that beep or sound like a siren. We needed something more pleasant that would still get our attention in a sometimes noisy home. When I found this alarm that plays music, I thought it might work for us. This alarm arrived quickly, was simple to install, and works well for our family. We found two different songs to signal the back door and the bathroom door. There are enough different kinds of sounds that you are sure to find something palatable for your household. There are several different door bell chimes, a siren or barking dog (if you want to scare off burglars), and so many tunes we never made it through all of them. We just picked a couple that were acceptable to us. The receiver has 3 volume settings. We use the loudest one, and it is audible at least 3 rooms away, through plaster walls and doors. So, while it wasn't our primary reason for buying this alarm, we now have an additional security feature on our house. We live in an old house with plaster walls. The bathroom door is about 30 feet from the receiver, with several walls and heavy wooden doors in between. There is no problem with the signal being sent through these obstacles, even when all of the doors in between are closed. I recommend this alarm to any caregiver who needs something to let them know their loved one needs some supervision. It will change your life!

Toddler Proof and lifetime warranty!!
I purchased this last year because my toddler sleeps on the 2nd floor and we sleep on the 3rd floor and I needed peace of mind knowing I had an extra set "eyes and ears" on her while we are asleep. If I didn't hear her awake and moving around on the baby monitor, I wanted to know that this would for sure wake me if she decided to venture out of her room while I was asleep (heaven knows that sometimes even a light sleeper can fall into a deep sleep!). It works like a charm!! Installation was quick and easy! We installed it at the top of her door (so she would never be able to pull it off) with the double stick tape that was provided and it didn't quite work because the door frame is a little chunkier- but it was an easy fix . I had extra double stick tape left over from something else so I just doubled up on the tape and that lifted it enough to get it to meet./touch the sensor. We plugged in the sound receiver in our bedroom and chose one of the many chimes/songs and adjusted the volume (the loudest level is very loud!) and synced them without issue. You will need a 2nd person to help sync them if you are more than 5 seconds away from the door. I should also note that there is a blue light that blinks with the sound/song/beat which I think is a great feature for the hearing impaired. I am writing this review a little over a year after purchasing it because our receiver stopped working, but I emailed the company and they sent me a new one for free! There is a lifetime warranty on their product- how amazing is that?! The process was quick and easy, just a few emails explaining the problem, verifying my purchase on amazon (send them invoice from your "previous orders" and verifying address.) WOW- not many companies stand by their product like this and I was already pleased with our door chime, but this experience just took it to another level! Totally recommend this product for your adventurous toddler, secret mom power to 'mysteriously' appear when a kid opens a door, or business!

Great door alarm, Works on curved molding
I just installed 2 of the alarms on my doors and they work great. I was concerned about the functionality given my molding frame around the doors and it works well on the curved molding but not on the elevated raised molding. I attached photos to demonstrate. The first 2 photos show my white back door with curved molding and the alarm mounted at an angle and it works without a problem. The 3rd photo is the front wood color door with a narrow trim before the molding begins and the sensor fit in that level area great. The 4th photo is my side door that had different molding that sits elevated from the door and thus I could not get a connection when the door was closed. The alarm would not work on that door setup. I can probably rig something to mount the door unit elevated about 1/4" or so which would help the 2 line up so it will eventually work, just not out of the box. Double sided tape on a small square of wood attached to the door and then putting the alarm on the wood block would work so all is not lost. Very happy with the ease of installation and they work as long as pointing towards each other even if off angle.

Works as described. It is just a chime.
And it chimes when on loud setting loud enough to be heard 2 hollow-core doors away from the chime. So it's fine. But only as a chime. Not an alarm. Update 2023-06-30: 1) We have paired 2 sensors and, with a little fiddling, each elicits a different sound from the base unit. The font door elicits a Bing-Bong. The slider to the patio a Wah-Wah claxon. OK. Good. 2) We put the base station near the bedrooms on a timer. It gets power from Midnight to 6 AM only. Otherwise is unpowered hence silent. Settings are remembered. OK. Good. 3) But the sounds when triggered by the sensors only play once and then shut off. So if you don't wake up at the first instance of the sound from the base and as the claxon will shut off all by itself(!) then the perp can just walk right in. Bad. Very bad. It would be better that the claxon continued to sound until someone awakened, got up, called the cops, went to the base and, when safe, turned it off. Or the claxon could time out after 1 hour - in case we were away on vacation. Adding more units won't help because the sounds - bing-bong or wah-wah - stop on their own within a few seconds. Just reporting this. Door chime: good. Alarm: very bad. Please be aware.

Nice range
I've been using this now for several months, very happy with it. The range for me is about 30 feet away through one wood stud wall I use it to alert me if Mom with dementia is coming down the stairs from the back porch (she should not do stairs alone). This is great!

Relief for caregiver ...
I bought this for my parents who are living in an assisted living center (they are 85 years old). My mother has Alzheimers and when they moved into this facility, was confused and disoriented. Within a few days, she had wandered away from the facility when she walked out of their apartment and left the premises. My father was in his office and didn't hear her leave. She was found 2 miles away. The facility manager called and told me that she would need to be moved to a memory care unit, but I asked if we could try an alternative solution. He agreed. We had tried a door chime before, but it didn't ring remotely, and my mother would pull it off the door because she didn't like the sound of it. I researched door chimes and settled on this one because of the remote chime, which wouldn't bother my mother since it wouldn't ring at the door. It took about 5 minutes to install and it works wonderfully. I love walking into their apartment now and hearing the chime go off in my father's office. It has now been a couple of months since we installed it and my mother has never gotten the chance to wander off again since my father is always aware of her opening the door.

AN HONEST REVIEW
This is an ideal concept. One of the biggest reasons is that the chime/receiver end can be plugged/placed away from the door. We previously purchased another similar product that had the chime built into the piece that sticks to the door. So when you walk through the door and it goes off, it's right in your ear and very loud and obnoxious.. So.. Yeah, this is a great idea for that reason. I did knock two stars off for this reason... This boasts of having 52 chimes yet the majority of them are not dings or pops or classy sounds. Instead all but about maybe 5-6 are long melodies and lullabies that remind me of something you'd hear on an ice-cream truck. I'm sure there will be people that want a long lullaby melody played each time the door is opened but I cannot imagine that the average person will. I was really hoping for more professional sounding chimes, not melodies or lullabies. Especially since this is a great idea for businesses that have customers in and out and you want to know when they go in or out. There are about 3-4 that come close. So I have picked the best of them and will live with it. Other than that, it does work great. It was a little tricky to get two doors paired to the one receiver for the chime I chose. The directions can be a little confusing as to what you should push. This is what I did to successfully set and pair ours. (Do this BEFORE sticking it to the door and save yourself the aggravation) To set the chime/melody 1. Separate the door magnet pieces that go on the door and the door frame. 3. Plug the receiver into a power outlet. 4. Press the tunes button until you find the tune you like. 5. Press and hold the volume button until the receiver beeps and the blue light on the receiver flashes. (This puts it into learn mode) 6. Push the two doors pieces together. You should hear the tune/chime you selected. This let's you know it was successful. To know 100% just separate the door magnet pieces and the receiver should go off. (Note that you have 5 seconds to complete this process once the receiver is set in learn mode) You will use basically the same procedure to pair another door magnet to the same receiver. If you have trouble with getting the receiver into learn mode by holding the volume button, try holding the tune button until the light turns blue and the receiver beeps. Hope this helps.
