Subtle vinegar taste
The only place I could find them. Honestly ate straight from the can. The vinegar taste is light and subtle. Caper’s didn’t add much flavor. I am a King Oscar fan so they can do no wrong. Enjoyed! Next time I will just add red wine vinegar.

Astringent, sour, and fatty. Not briny like olives which come to mind by the label.
I regret buying these. The vinegar is more a sour bitter taste vs the salty briny flavor that I expected. It’s definitely a low quality white wine vinegar they used. They aren’t horrible but they certainly require doctoring to eat. The sardine filets seemed less intact and fatter too, almost as if they used lower quality fish because they knew they’d be smothering their true flavors with poor quality ingredients so why bother. Kind of how restaurants give lower quality steaks to people that want them cooked well done. They taste like they were marinated in the liquid that comes out of yellow mustard that needs to be shaken. Astringent. I wanted the Spanish style ones but I guess those are discontinued. I should’ve gotten the Mediterranean ones which are excellent and the flavorful olives and spices compliment the sardines but I thought I’d try something new. Mistakes were made.

Awesome combo! Wine and Capers
The white wine with capers is awesome. Makes an awesome instant vinegarette for your salad. Unfortunately the similar packaging among flavors means you're not likely to get the one you order.

Next-level snacking
YUMMO!!! The capers and vinegar work soooo well with the rich umami flavor of the sardines. This is next-level snacking!

Tried blind and am now in love!
I adore King Oscar brand sardines and was looking for a new "fun" flavor. I know I like the mustard variety, but was hesitant to try the White Wine Vinegar & Caper for fear of the vinegar over-powering the fish. I looked for reviews of the flavor and found none. I jumped in and ordered a 12pk anyway, determined to write a review to help others. Let me say, they did not disappoint and will now be staple in my pantry. If you like the mustard flavor, I can only imagine you will enjoy these, too!!! Two thumbs WAY UP!!!

These taste amazing!
These were firm, but delicate. The white wine vinegar gave it a nice amount of tang to go with the EVOO in the can, and the pea sized capers were a nice texture treat though they didn't taste any different from the vinegar. Overall these were very good, not at all fishy, and are going into my lunch rotation.

Good Sardines, Weak Flavor
The fish themselves are high quality, very soft but not falling apart. However, I bought the vinegar and capers for the flavor, and sadly sardines in water have more flavor than these. They taste incredibly bland, I should have bought the cracked pepper type. *Edit :The cracked pepper were disgusting, there was an entire layer of whole pepper corns on top of the sardines.

Not sure what happened
Ever since I was a child King Oscar sardines were my favorite. A deep, rich, umami filled taste sensation, they were a true treat. Lately, something seems to have changed. Did they change the quality of the oil? Did they change the processing? Is it a different, less flavorful species of sardine? I don't know. I'm sad, disappointed. It's like losing an old and trusted friend. They were always more expensive than some other brands, but I could justify the expense because they were so clearly superior. Unfortunately I can no longer do that. So many good things have gone by the wayside over the years, now King Oscar is one of them. Thanks for the memories old friend.
