Learn to march while in snow shoes...
Tried to post a video....it was quite entertaining watching my significant other march across the lawn. One suggestion is wait to do the front until there are fewer neighbors who think you must have been smoking something....lol ... he stopped and pretended to be on his cell phone every time a car drove by. He said however even with the straps "super tight". (And he has a big foot... lol) that the spikes kept falling off his foot. He claims there is a technique to it that you have to march like you are walking in snow shoes and in the army. I am not sure where you would be stationed for that training ( ha ha). But he says they need to make the back heel about a 1/2 inch higher and then there would be less issues. Overall, they work and if they don't for you... have someone else do it and pull up a chair with a beer or glass of wine with a video camera

I recommend to the vendor to remove these buckles and replace ...
Using these shoe aerators with clay soil is the most demanding use of these shoes. This type of soil, during different periods of soil moisture, will actually cause the shoes to stick to the ground and cause the straps to loosen up. Here are some tips on using these shoes ...1. Use only a heavy duty boots (as pictured) with these aerator shoes - any type of shoe flexing will cause the straps to loosen up.The vendor did a marvelous job of adding extra straps but the metal buckles have a tendency to loosen in clay soil. I recommend to the vendorto remove these buckles and replace them with side latching plastic buckles that will NOT retract or move.2. The spikes retaining nuts have a tendency to loosen up after each aeration. The vendor does provide extra spikes and even a wrench. To keep from tightening the nuts up after each aeration just put a drop of "medium" Loctite on each thread/nut to keep it in place.3. Use cooking spray (from a dollar store) to lubricate the spikes before using them really helps.4. Using duct tape on the heel and front toe to keep the shoe in place in clay soil also really helps. After using these shoes on my lawn, the results from aeration makes my lawn the best in our neighborhood! Keep in mind that, in the spring time, ground temperatures of 55-65 F. or ambient temperatures of 65-75 F. is the grass germination period in which you need to aerate you lawn.

Great for the price
They fit my shoe well (Size 12 1/2), and didn't fall off. I did use all 4 buckles, and walked around my 1/3 acre. Definitely recommended after a good rain or yard watering otherwise the soil may be harder to get good penetration into. I like that these are nylon unlike some of the other offering as that should help them to last longer. When putting in the metal studs I found the supplied tools were adequate, and appreciated that they included an extra wrench and 3 extra studs/nuts!After the 2nd one for installing the studs I found it easiest to:1. Install the center studs first2. Finger tighten the nuts to those studs while holding a finger on the head of the stud on the other side to keep it from pushing through3. Wrench tighten those nuts4. Install all other studs around the perimeter5. Finger tighten the nuts to those studs while holding a finger on the head of the stud on the other side to keep it from pushing through6. Wrench tighten outer nutsSounds like a lot of work but it only takes 5-10 minutesTime will tell if the aeration provided by doing this actually helps... But I think it will, and at a great price. If nothing else it's a decent workout going around the yard with these on! :D

Excellent Quality Product
Received the order right on time and was more than eager to get started. After opening the box, I saw a lot of loose pieces and right away thought I was in for a challenge. Purposely timing myself, it took a little over 25 minutes to assemble. I would consider myself fairly handy. Using a 7/16" wrench made tightening the spikes must easier, but pay special attention as to not strip the threads. The pictures on the instruction sheet are just shadowed out images and hard to make out exactly how the straps are inserted in the thier correct positions. Fortunately, the box makes it very clear and that was no problem. Using them on my heavy clay soil was no problem at all. I used my Crocs and kept the straps tightened fairly snug and went for a walk. Walking in such a manner as to lift your feet when you walk as opposed to dragging them makes all the difference regardless what soil type or moisture content is what I've discovered. Overall an excellent buy I could confidently recommend.

Worsk great if you know how to strap them around your shoe
This shoes works great if you know how to tight them. Do not tight them as in the picture or the heel will come of and it will be a paint to get back in. In order to have it properly tight you have to strap the second strap counting from the back around your heel. See picture attached. So far I did my entire yard and it worked like a charm. Do not over tight the nuts, you will feel you still can give it a snug but you will be damaging the sole by turning the screw on its hexagonal pocket.Straps are too long so you will have to cut them to whatever works fro your length so you won't trip.

these came unassembled.
I couldn't tell which spike shoes to buy. They all look alike and many of them have terrible reviews. I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, these came unassembled. We have to screw the spikes on, but it came with a wrench to help with that. We also have to weave on the straps. That's good, because these spike shoes are big enough to fit men's shoes. Being a woman, I didn't need to use all the straps. I just used three on each shoe. I cut the straps because they were too long, but I think they were meant to be cut.The shoes definitely work. I sank into the ground with each step as I walked around the yard on my first day gardening. It is a real workout. That's a good thing, because I am killing multiple birds with one stone. When done, I just hosed off the shoes and I'm ready to go at it again (this weekend, in fact). I like being able to aerate my lawn as I'm weeding. It means I don't have to go out of my way to buy a machine or pay someone to do it. It's great. :)
