Great tool for geology fans...
This requires patience, a separate room and brute strength! Let me start with the positives. Your boring, dusty rocks will be transformed into beautiful, shiny rocks in a variety of colours perfect for jewellery making and gifting to friends. It isn't a quick activity; a full cycle will take a month to reach the finished product. The tub is incredibly difficult to open; children won't be able to do this on their own. It is NOISY. The rock holder crashes the stones around and there is no let up, the further into the gritting process, the louder it gets and I mean LOUD. We had to keep it in the utility room and could still hear it upstairs. All in all, a great gift, just remember to eat your spinach and buy ear plugs alongside it! We have multiple additional packs of stones but will give it a break in between the next batch!

Did not work at all
We got this for my son’s birthday in September. We have only just opened it to use it. The barrel leaks and doesn’t spin at all. I’ve just noticed that I’m “past the return window” when my statutory rights are 6 months to return a faulty item. I would like a replacement that actually works. He is very upset. And I am very disappointed to be honest. I would like someone to contact me about this!

Basic rock tumbling kit.
Purchased for ny 10 year old who is obsessed with rocks at the moment. Adult supervision required here. Plus points. The instructions are easy to follow and the kit comes with everything you need to get started, including a bag of stones and a sieve. The tumbler itself is rubber lined and the motor is almost silent so it's not too noisy. Think tumble drier volume level and that's accurate. Don't think you'd want it running in the house. Good selection of stones to polish as well. Negative points. The drum is HARD to open, and it's not great how to open it. I though it was just pushed on, but its actually threaded and it's very stiff to open Secondly on the one I had, initially the wheel that turns the yellow drum didn't make conact with the drum ! A small rubber band on the wheel fixed the problem. The drum eats away at its housing with wear as well , so eventually it'll wear out

I've followed the instructions to the letter
This is a good idea BUT it stopped spinning on me several times. I just gave it a wee spin and it was away again . My daughter is watching what is happening to the stones very carefully. I hope it doesn't disappoint her

Doesn’t rotate unless you add a rubber band or similar.
The surface of the tumbler is too smooth therefore no friction to turn it against the motor. We added a rubber band, which then snapped and got caught in the motor, so then added a line of superglue. Great product otherwise but big design flaw.
