I tried it on black jeans--it worked very well. I have two pairs of cotton black Levis--one got Retayne, one did not. After 8 months of washing both, the one with Retayne has faded only slightly--the other, quite a bit more.

Q: Has anyone used this as a fixative for pigment ink jet printing on pre-treated 100% cotton fabric to reduce/prevent color washout during rinse?

I did. I received a shirt from an online retailer with sprayed on pigment ink in place of a screen print. I soaked the shirt in retain just like I do for custom printed knits and the color remained bright after washing.

Q: I have a blanket that is synthetic fur and cotton, i need it to stop bleeding on the cotton but will it cause changes in the faux fur?

Retayne will only work on the cotton portion of your synthetic fur. You will need to probably use your washing machine with water at close to 140F as possible, when treating the fabric. The directions are found on the label of the bottle, when you receive it. Also, after the treatment, the fur can only be washed in cold water, otherwise the Retayne treatment will get removed.

I believe you should wash with retayne first, if you wash it with mild soap first and rinse, then whatever was going to bleed will bleed. The Retayne will help keep it from bleeding. From what I remember, you soak it in the bathtub with the Retayne and then launder, but I would recommend reading the directions on the bottle to make sure.
