Beyond impressed.
I have been looking for a good knife to keep in my bag and be a sort of jack of all trades. I looked through all different price ranges and brands and I did my due diligence on reviews and such. I came across the Silax and there really wasn't much said about it. I saw some people talk about it and liken it to more of a chefs knife than anything used for a camp knife or a EDC knife. So needless to say I was a little skeptical about it but I gave it a shot and see how it would do for my needs. So I was looking for a decent knife to have on me that could do most tasks around a camp including food prep etc. I have only had this a couple days and I felt like I had to leave a review.I haven't even taken this knife out with me yet. I have only used it around the house. I have cut some paracord, opened up boxes, cut open hard plastic packaging and did a bit of food prep. It performed all tasks without any struggle. It cut through the paracord no problem and destroyed the boxes with minimal effort. The hard plastic packaging was stupid easy. I think where I had the most fun was food prep. I bought a huge pork loin and I had a very expensive and shard kitchen knife that I was struggling to cut with. I said f$%@ it and got the Silax. The knife cut through everything like it was a hot knife through butter. It cut up the veggies with precision and ease. I said why stop here so I got the brisket I had thawing out and decided to trim and prep it for going in the smoker overnight. I felt like iron chef. It worked so well. I can't wait till i get this thing out camping. I am pretty sure it will be up to any task when the time comes for it. Its truly a great knife and for the price you would be stupid not to try it.

Great Camp Knife
I love this knife. I am very happy that it came with a taco style kydex instead of a Pancake. It came sharp and the edge lasted a while. When it was time to sharpen it was easy and took a great edge. The knife has been great at food prep and other camp chores. Can't beat it for the money.

Great in Kitchen or Camping
I purchased this primarily as a kitchen utility knife, as it is clearly modeled after a Japanese Kiritsuke-style petty knife. So far, it's been a wonderful addition to the kitchen, great to grab for small chopping projects or other light slicing work. The handle is a bit thin for heavy kitchen duty, but it would be great for someone with smaller hands. The blade is light and nimble and has held its edge very well so far.In a couple weeks I'll take it camping and will use the great Kydex sheath to secure it to my pack. The knife clicks in securely to the sheath, exhibiting no signs of rocking or instability. This knife by no means replaces my more dedicated chef knives in the kitchen, but it is a very nice middle-ground between the larger 8"+ knives and the small 3.5" pairing knife. CJRB is such a quality company too!

CJRB Silax. What a great knife!
I am a 70+ yr. old outdoorsman, and this may be my last knife review as I can no longer fish or trail game. I mostly prepare meat, fish and farm fresh veggies for my family and friends. I have been largely disappointed in fixed blade sheath knives. Most are nothing more than sharpened pry bars built for a weekend Rambo want to be who wants to skin a Cadillac. This knife rocks! It is made from materials that will hold up in the field and on the water. The knife and sheath are thin and lite enough to carry all day, but tough enough to process food. I will be using this knife along with a heavier chopper and a fillet knife for all future food prep. Affordable, sharp, comfortable, and lite enough to always have it near you when you need it. Thank you for finally making a knife designed to process FOOD.

Incredible value for the money.
After receiving this knife and looking it all over really thoroughly, I'm very impressed. I almost want to do a video review of it pointing out all the cool details. I am very impressed by this knife at any price, especially at the $53 that I paid for it. Excellent balance, excellent thickness and that flat grind make it strong yet slicey. All steel edges are beautifully chamfered so there's no sharp edges down the spine or in the finger choil, the scales are nice and flush, the metal finish on the blade is both brushed and finely media blasted. Lot's of quality details on this knife. Very impressed. I will be looking at more CJRB knives now.

great value for a well made knife
I am pro chef for 30yrs and I bought this on a whim because i was looking for a new petty knife but wanted something different also I had never heard of the steel before so I wanted to try it out.As soon as I held it in hand I knew I loved it, very well balanced with a razor sharp edge and excellent fit and finish. Brought it to work and cut a few prep items, Shallots, Celery, some peppers, not the best for slicing and dicing but! it reminds me of a Honesuki (Japanese poultry butcher knife). I passed it to my sous chef who said it felt great also, so he trimmed and cleaned 11 whole beef tenderloins, not the best tool for this job but adequate. He loved it and made quick work of them. he cleaned it and handed it back and it still shaved arm hair, not quite as sharp as out of box but serviceable. This Knife comes with a Kydex sheath and it snaps in tightly, making it a great option for a Camping knife. it has a stout blade thickness so not the best slicer but this makes it a bit tougher and less prone to chipping or breaking. This is just first day impressions but for the price it is a winner and I am not sure if it will stay at work or in my camp kit.I will update my review should I encounter any issues

Among my favorite knives now
This is a superior feeling kitchen knife... can't say it would be for everyone as we all have different hands and likes... the weight/balance... and I expected to have to sharpen out of the box but it was like a RAZOR... I don't know much about the steel from which it's made... hope it is as good as everything else seems.
