Fundamentals of Oil & Gas Accounting [Wright, Charlotte, Gallun, Rebecca] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Fundamentals of Oil & Gas Accounting Review: Excellent Resource - I have been looking for a good resource on oil and gas accounting for some time. While there are many resources online that are freely available, none really pull together all of the special terminology, complexity, and myriad issues associated with the oil and gas industry. As an investor, I read annual reports and 10-Ks of oil and gas companies all the time and am largely self-taught. Despite many years of following the industry, some of the more esoteric concepts (particularly related to joint ventures, farm-ins, farm-outs, etc) were not 100% clear. Although this book is quite expensive, it is well worth the money for a professional investor seriously interested in the oil and gas field. Like another reviewer, I found the problems at the end of each chapter interesting but find it frustrating that I cannot purchase a solutions manual to check the work. I contacted the publisher and they stated that only professors approved by the authors can receive the manual. While I understand why this is the case (students who may be taking a credit course and attempt to cheat), I wish there was some way to address the issue. In any case, the book is highly recommended. Review: This is THE Source! - Everything you wanted to know about oil and gas accounting in the US but were afraid to ask. Dr. Wright was the protege of Dr. Horace Block who wrote the standard on accounting for upstream oil and gas operations. Her understanding and depth of knowledge are unsurpassed in this field. I was fortunate enough to have her as my professor in my undergraduate and graduate work in accounting. There may be other oil and gas accounting books out there, but none can provide the insight of the the whys and wherefores like this can. Highly recommended.

Great resource
I really enjoyed this book. The industry specific accounting practices are a great resource even for experienced Accountants who are new to the O&G industry. It is worth the price... and I will continue to use it as reference material.

Great book, although a little concerned first two charts ...
Great book, although a little concerned first two charts in the first chapter are only updated to 2005. That is 10 years. A lot of Macro level items have occurred in the last 10 years of oil and gas, important events that shape the future for this business. I am worried this speaks for the other content in the book.

Great Resource!
This book is a fount of information. I initially thought i would just read the chapters of interest as they pertain to my current position but have found that this text is worth the read from beginning to end.

Industry leader - easy to comprehend, thorough in context, and must have for your library.
As an accountant new to the oil and gas industry, I tried to find a well organized book that expands on the industry in a logical sequence. This book this. It also used college level language that was not so industry specific that I didn't know what it was saying. I also use it as a resource book as it is easy to get to the topic you need at the moment.

Great reference book with lots of detail
Great reference book with lots of detail. The only drawback is that I can't seem to find the solutions to the practice questions located at the end of each chapter. I even searched online for a supplement and didn't see anything. Apart from that, I think it's a great value for the money.

This thick book has been helping my day-to-day tasks for months already. Good enough to start with.

I found the book well written like all accounting books. What I found the book was well made and the page was of high quality. Even though it was written for the US, I believe you can still use it in Canada to give you a good understanding of accounting in Oil and Gas.

This proved to be a really useful book. I delivered two workshops to members of the oil and gas sector. One workshop was to non-financial people, the second to financial people and the essential background included in this book contributed to the success of the workshops.

A good book on fundamentals and as a reference. Weighing in at over 700 pages this text covers a broad range of topics and includes a many examples.

I was told this was a new book, however, cover scratches, highlighted and marked up sections, and dog eared pages. I am so disappointed as a “used - like new” version was only $60 rather than the $200 I paid for this used book when I was expecting a new copy for my studies and to keep with my collection of books for my degree. Very disappointing to see.
