Great until they increased the price.
This was the only grain-free, soy-free, dairy-free bun mix I could find. While I’m perfectly capable of making my own buns, I appreciate the ability to take a shortcut. My daughter loved these, although for a nice size bun you can really only make 6. At 9, you have slider-size buns. When I initially bought this mix, it was $7. When I came back to reorder it’s $14.81. That’s more then $2/bun. Sorry, the convenience factor isn’t that valuable. I’ll go back to making them from scratch.

Not even close to real bread taste
I read the reviews and thought this could be a better solution than other "keto" breads I've tried but it isnt any better. The taste and consistency is nothing close to what real bread tastes like or the that good, chewy and light inside.

This will do just fine.
With all my dietary needs and preferences, it is hard to find items that allow my menu to be tasty and varied. I am grateful for California Country Gal for making this mix, for those rare times when I could use a quick bread bun. I like that it uses almond flour and coconut flour as well as psyllium powder; that's what my from-scratch recipes call for, but this is lots easier since I just add egg whites and water to it and knead it. Note you'll need 8oz of egg whites to make the entire mix that yields 9 large buns or many more slider sized buns.I had a hankering for sloppy joe's. I used this as the bun, and it certainly did the trick. I'm about 2-3 months into this lifestyle change, so my tastebuds do still prefer the old traditional breads, but this worked to satisfactorily replace the old-fashioned bun with one that complies with my dietary needs. Sloppy joe's are flavorful and I know the flavor of it is what helped pull off the success of the bun - I wouldn't use this to satisfy a craving for a buttered bun on its own. It does have a more dense, egg-y texture but neutral in taste. I also wouldn't any kind of keto/paleio bread substitute daily or regularly as my goal is to crave more greens and non starchy vegetables at each meal, not bread whether made of wheat or almonds. Regarding it being an imitation or a replica...I understand that any paleo/keto product that attempts to imitate traditional bread will not be an exact replica, and I do not hold it to such a standard, hence the 5 stars. I also know that the ingredients used to make this mix cost a lot more than regular all purpose flour so the cost differential is warranted.

Very good, but too expensive to buy often.
5 stars for taste, texture and quality..... 2 stars for cost factor. After trying many keto bread/bun baking mixes I had stopped being optimistic that I would find one that really made good tasting bread with a regular bread texture. This mix is very good on both fronts. The only downside, in my opinion is the price. If this baking mix was less expensive it would be a staple in my pantry. As it is though, I’m sorry to say it will have to be a once in awhile, special occasion splurge purchase.

Great gluten-free alternative
I am so thrilled to find this mix! I'm gluten-free and the ready made buns are way too huge for my liking. I want more burger than bun! I just made 12 buns from one package and they are just big enough to cut in half and put a 1/4 or 1/3 pound burger in. I put them in oven for 14 minutes (don't like breads very brown) and they are great, for $1.25 each! Also less calories when made smaller, which I like. The buns hold together very well and are tasty without taking away flavor from burgers, or whatever. Make them small, make them big, at any rate this mix is a Godsend!

To bun or not to bun.
The buns were very tasty. We used them for hamburgers and I must say - they are sure better than “no bun”. The only problem is - they’re very expensive!
