13 Art Illusions Children Should Know (13 Children Should Know) Hardcover – September 25, 2012

I purchased almost every 13 series book for my 5 years old son, we love them. The collections are appealing; the design of book is attractive for his age. I would recommend it to others for sure.

My students love to read when they finish a project early and this is a great series of books for them to learn about art.

Very cool book

This is book is a great read. In general, I prefer fantasy fiction books, but this book surprised me. It is among the most interesting non-fiction books I’ve read, because it got me to think and inquire more than most non-fiction books do. The art illusions were all new to me and the author does a good job of teaching the reader about the technique and history.One of my favorite illusions was about “concealed messages”. I learned that in pictures you may not always see everything the artist did the first time you look at it and might not see it at all unless you turn the artwork upside down, sideways, or something else!I like that this book is a nice introduction to the famous artists of the past. These people were so interesting and smart! The author includes a timeline on some pages, which is helpful because it places the art style in history and other history around that time. It helps me to understand the artist better because I know more about what the artists world was like.Since reading this book I learned a lot about moving pictures, how to give depth to pictures, and new art tricks like how if you put opposite colors next to each other the painting can be more vibrant. This has had an effect on how I do my own artwork now. I am using the techniques I learned from the book in my school art class to make my own art pieces more vibrant.Summer H., Age 9, Tampa Bay Mensa
